So one of my New Year's resolutions is to do some journaling. I have done so sporadicly at different points in my life, in various formats. With as much time as I spend on-line, perhaps this format will help me journal more consistently.
I haven't been sleeping well lately. I didn't get to sleep until after 1 AM last night then was up for no particularly good reason (i.e. bathroom, 1st breakfast, random reading) between 5:30 and 7AM. I intended to get a couple of hours of sleep before joining the knitting guild field trip at the 11 AM train. Unfortunately, my sister's gift of the sleep mask worked a little too well. I work to the sound of the train whistle at 11AM. After a short burst of hysteria, I got dressed and drove to meet the group at Mosaic Yarn Studio in Des Plaines. They were having a sale on sock knitting stuff. I picked up some pattern books, yarn, and needles. I was able to have Dawn sit me down and turn the heel on my current sock. It was good to see the gang, despite feeling so lame for missing the train. I think everyone was good enough to chalk it up to a pregnancy thing.
I got home about 5 PM and managed to pack up all the lights and ornaments from the Christmas tree, take out the garbage, and run about 3 loads of laundry. At least I was somewhat productive today.
I am currently listening to the final broadcast hour of Energy 92.7/5 WDEK while eating the final remnants of Edy's Grand Light Cookies N'Cream ice cream from our freezer. I'm kinda bummed about this station going off the air. It was primarily a club/dance music format. Not that I've done in any real "clubbing" in years. But is was good music for doing housework, exercising, and staying awake on long drives. Dave hated it because, well, dance music isn't necessarily high quality music and it annoys him something fierce. He's become a bit of an open mic snob and hates to see talentless techno DJ slobs raking in lots of teenagers' money. I can't say he's wrong. I just liked the up tempo sometimes. This is also a rough musical blow since the Mudhens, my favorite Boston area band, had their final show on New Year's Eve.

*sigh*
I guess some doors must close for others to open and all that jazz.
