Newark Bears
So much easier to write a post after others put down important details I woudnt otherwise remember :P
Yesterday went with other Hi-4 members to the Newark Bears baseball game. This one was important because it was partly to celebrate the bears mascot, Rip N' Ruppert's birthday. Also there was DreamWolf, el_wereturkey, foxwell, mortonfox, rapidtrabbit, and shy_matsi assisting with camera. There were other mascots there as well: Of course Ruppert for the Bears, but also Jack the Jackal (from NJ Jackals), the devil from NJ Devils, Sparkee (Somerset Patriots - for the opposing team that was playing), the Highlander (from NJIT), Max Reader (from REMAX), and the Commerce Bank Big Red "C", also Batman and the batcar was there too.
We started off just saying hi to the crowd from on the field, but with weather there werent a lot of people, then we participated in mascot dodgeball which was fun but a bit exhausting. Then more mingling with crowd before game began, we were lucky to suites for changing area and I went up there shortly after game began - muggy weather can make a platypus wet ^.^;;; While in suite I was half watching game while talking to others in the booth, all I see it pitcher for Bears throw ball and then the batter falls down. He hit him right in the head! Took him a couple minutes to get back up again, and then pitcher continued to play. Others in the suite said pitcher had hit two other people just before, and I think it was still in the first inning, wow. Then another batter almost got hit or did get hit, not sure, and then pitcher was taken off the field. Game began to improve after that, bears started off being down by two.
They also did a bat-driveby with the batman driving his car around the field with the bear mascot. Then a bit later they did a musical chair, which I think only RTR from our group joined in, he sortakinda came in second when he sat on teh winning bear :P I did join in the happy birthday to Ruppert and a bunch of kids that were sitting right by the fiedl, and after that they said there were no more mascot events and we could stay or go.
Stayed for a bit longer, a lot of kids enjoyed us being there. But then it started to rain a bit and most people were giving up on the game, we ended up leaving at the end of the game but being done a bit before that. In the end the Bears beat the Patriots by one point ^.^
