Despite drmellow's hectic work week causing us to shorten our vacation, we were still able to head to Charleston for an enjoyable weekend. He was able to run in the Cooper River Bridge Run and I was able to visit with my parents and catch up with them after their recent vacation in Venice.

We've been having really fantastic summer-like weather here for the past few days, and I've been taking advantage of it in an effort to reclaim our yard. I finished cleaning out the gutters yesterday, save for a 12-inch section on the left side of the house that I can't reach from the roof. I usually let Bird out of his cage while I'm cleaning it so that he can fly around and exercise his wings. Usually, he heads straight for the top of the step-back cupboard which is in the room where his cage resides. Today, he made a bee-line (I guess that's bird-line) for the kitchen. drmellow will surely appreciate where he chose to land...

Speaking of sickness (and of lunch), it was necessary for us to postpone our Valentine's lunch plans in order for me to stay home in bed feeling miserable. Lucky for me, Darling Hubby came home to fix me some chicken noodle soup and stopped at Krispy Kreme on the way. Nothing says love like a dozen heart-shaped Hot Nows.

Yesterday, my marvelous aunt_toad came over to teach me how to make Pimiento Cheese. Specifically, her very own, very awesome Pimiento Cheese. When she arrived it was almost lunchtime, so we organized our ingredients and then met the Doctor for lunch at LongHorn, so he could perform his "mystery shop". Just before Christmas, while visiting family in eastern NC, drmellow, ccohoon, olga_ukraine and I checked out a new little coffee/antiques shop that had opened in downtown Columbia. I team teach a Sunday School class of first to fourth-graders, and as Sunday was the first Sunday of the month, it was my turn to do "Awesome Art" with the kiddos. I see that it's been over a month since I last posted to LJ. That's a good hint as to how busy we've been lately--including traveling non-stop since December 14th. Having spent time in Raleigh, Greenville, coastal NC, Darlington, SC and Atlanta, we could have made our own tour t-shirts this season! I've been sorting through old pictures this morning, and I just came across this one. If drmellow ever writes a book (oh, wait, he has!), I think this one belongs on the jacket.
