The Doctor mentioned earlier today that one of his coworkers wants to revive the legendary penny poker nights of old. Wow. Poker nights ceased sometime before we got married if I recall correctly, but we've been toting around everyone's cigar boxes (banks) for the last 7 years.
If it comes to fruition, we'll be up to host before too long. That's all the more incentive to get the basement cleaned up next weekend. I've wanted to turn the spare room down there into our own personal McCoul's (a local Irish pub) for a while. We have the bumper pool/card-playing table and the dart cabinet down there, but there's not currently room to actually engage in any of those activities. I'd like to get things arranged in a way that we can fit the full-size pool table in my parents' attic down there eventually. We'll definitely have some unique "house hazards" if we manage to do that.
Additionally, I could move the bar down there and free up a bunch of pantry space currently occupied by our bottle collection.... There's a thought.
