Cecil
I woke up this morning only to discover that my other fish had did during the night. Sad. Again, I don't think it was related to the water change; I did that on Monday, and he seemed fine right up until I went to bed last night. I was just getting ready to bury him when my parents showed up, so Mom attended the interrment service. Now I have two fishies fertilizing my rose bush in the backyard. While outside, we picked blossoms off of the blooming honeysuckle vine to use in making honeysuckle ice cream.
Shopping
While Dad, Greg and
aunt_toad hung out at home, Mom & I went shopping for an all-white outfit for her to wear to graduation exercises at Ashley Hall. I found a cool embroidered linen skirt and cardigan in the process. I was also pleased to discover I'd dropped another size in tailored clothing.
Cafe D'Arte
My brother drove up from Raleigh to meet us for supper, and the six of us dined at our favorite Italian restaurant in town, Cafe D'Arte, where I probably gained back all the weight I'd lost grazing on a roasted red pepper, crab and spinach-stuffed puff pastry lasagne tower; sun-dried tomato-stuffed encrusted brie with kalamata puree, gorgonzola, parmesan and sun-dried tomato feta; the "Ciao Ya'll" - spicy Italian shrimp and grits with polenta, scallops, pancetta, parmesan, roasted peppers and onions; two bottles of merlot and two sinfully scrumptious desserts - a deconstructed tiramisu and a ridiculously rich orange/hazelnut-infused chocolate terrine served in a strawberry bisque with raspberry puree.
Sears
After supper, Mom and I stopped by Sears where I cashed in on my belated birthday present, a slew of gardening implements - 10" hedge clippers, a long-handled 2" diameter bypass pruner, some hand-held trimmers and a pair of leather gardening gloves.
Now that I'm home, I think I'll pass out in a food-induced coma (good thing I skipped breakfast and lunch) and let my body recover from my unorthodox eating habits today.
