It's so interesting to watch Hatter and Alice build a relationship, where he is already not convinced of all her good qualities. You really hit upon an excellent character development device, I think. His confusion and his mixed feelings are so very Hatter and yet not directed in a manner we would expect. I look forward to watching their relationship develop.
I have to admit, it is nice to see Absolem as the Caterpillar. It makes me realize that I miss him as he Was prior to becoming a butterfly.
All of the tie-ins with the original books tickle me, yet again. Her regret for having stood up for the Knave was a nice touch. And Alice must become a Queen again by reaching the correct square. Lovely!

It was fun to play with the idea that Alice would be like "Hey, it's me! You're mine, baby!" and Tarrant is all like "Nae, Ah do nae ken what tae think o' ye yet." LOL

And I'm pretty sure having Alice regret for standing up for Stayne was prompted by Manny. So props go to her for that idea. :D :D
Do you have any idea how much I love OAC!Tarrant? Maybe almost as much as you do! Wow, I love his internal struggle with all those capitalized Emotions bossing him around, pulling him this way and that. Poor guy. And then he realizes he might actually be Disappointed that he won't be traveling alone with Alice! Dude, he just can't figure out what he wants. Befuddled!Moody!Tarrant FTW!!!
I especially like the WTF moment when Tarrant cusses out the knave and then Alice cuddles up to him. Dude. How often does that happen in RL? Guy cusses someone out and gets the girl, like, instantly. I LOVE IT. 'Tis totally Epic. (^__~)

LOL, yeah, it certainly was a WTF moment. He was probably thinking "And people think I'm the mad one." ROFL...Alice was just thanking him, in her own way, for him saying the words she has though a thousand times...yeah, that's it! LOL (I'm over here laughing because, dude, that is so funny...Cussing out other dudes gets the Alice. No wonder Hamish didn't stand a chance.) LOL
