OMG!!! 2 months since my last post...though I said I would try to keep up with it instead of just checking other communities and stuf...
So what shall I write about??? Too late to talk about winter vacation...though not much happened lol
I think I'll talk about U!!!! As in Shirota Yu....in case you didn't know he goes by U when referring to his music. Yes. He sings now!!! And I must admit that I didn't know anything about him until a year ago. Well, I'd seen his face here and there in dramas, but I was never really interested in him...I guess I'm just too much of a Johnny's fan to even consider liking other idols lol Though U isn't really an idol :P He's a good actor and as I mentioned he just recently started with his music career. As in March 2011. Not even a year ago!!! And I prefer him as a singer actually. Why? Well, he is very talented. And I'm not fan-girling here. He really has talent. He not only sings. He composing both the music and lyrics to his music. Aside from acting, he can dance and play the guitar and piano!!! And as far as his lyrics, they are very well written. Not only in Japanese. He writes in English and Spanish too!!!
If you didn't know, he's half Spanish ;) Though I think he is no longer all that fluent in the language, he can communicate very well. Same goes for his English ^-^
So why am I his fan? Aside from how talented and hot he is....I must say that the fact that he is one of the few(if not the only) artist in Japan who is trying to go beyond simple Japanese lyrics. Many Japanese artist can sing in English and do it very well. But, that is just a generic genre now. One or two lines in English doesn't mean they can speak the language...or even know what they are saying...But with U, he writes his own lyrics. And you can tell he only writes what he knows is well written. In all three languages. He is able to mix them in a song and still make sense. Also, his music is a mix of other genres. Not just J-Pop. You can tell he is very influenced by his Spanish heritage. And I must say that is what I like the most. There are so many "half" talents in Japan who can only speak Japanese and don't embrace their other heritage. I admire U for being able to do this with pride.
And so, this is a long introduction to my love for U. The artist. Not the actor...because honestly...I haven't really seen him act...but knowing how passionate he is about music is more than enough for me to respect him and like him as much as I do ^-^
