Nostalgia and Remakes

I've always been a bit of an American cartoon afficianato and few days ago I came across an unaired pilot for a revision for Wacky Races called, Wacky Races Forever. It would take place a decade or two after the original show where a mix of some of the original drivers and children of some of the originals. Was supposed to be picked up by Cartoon Network, but they opted for Johnny Test instead.

I enjoy new takes and re-imaginings of older stuff and I like it. I even watched episodes of the original cartoon to get a more objective point of view. Overall, it was a cute concept that didn't quite reach the potential it could've had. Personally I think part of the problem was a number of the characters didn't have much in the way of personality beyond the theme of their cars and weren't given as much time to expand on that (especially Red Max).

The Good:
-I love the idea of Penelope Pitstop and Peter Perfect getting together and having kids who compete against each other. As well as the storyline between their parents and the crooked VP.
-Dick Dastardly and Muttley are their enjoyable selves and it does explain why Dick will sabotage his own chances to win just to cheat.
-There's been some mixed reactions among fans over Pat Pending's newer and crazier personality, but I like it since it adds more of a mad scientist vibe and makes him more entertaining.
-The action seems more competitive and pumped up which I would've liked to have seen more of in the original.
-Updates on the cars' designs.

The Bad:
-There might be a risk that too much attention would be on the Perfect family and that it could get annoying/boring after a while if not handled well.
-There were only a few racers though it was probably due to the amount of time. Hopefully
-Animation is kinda basic, but I'm sure it would improved if it was made into a series.

As if anyone cares...
I had my own ideas of what some of the other characters would be like.

Red Max: As the character with least personality or having anything to do in the cartoon, any fixings would be an improvement. I'd go with a 20-something driver who's charming, cultured with a code of honor.and is rather flamboyant. He got permission to take over the Red Max name from the original after he retired.

Sargent Blast and Private Meekly: I picture Sargent Blast as a nicer, much more toned down version of the Gunny form Full Metal Jacket who got back into racing while going through a late mid-life crisis. Meekly's teenage daughter (who'd be mixed race) will take on assisting duties and unlike her father is very cheerful and gets a little to over-enthusiastic at times.

The Anthill Mob: After escaping from jail, they pose as their own descendants to hide from the police.

Luke and Blubber Bear: Still the same except it's hinted that there have been other Blubbers over the years.

Rufus Roughcut and Sawtooth: Rufus' son is Lil' Abner type who's own goodness and dimness can lead to be taken advantage of (especially if it's a pretty girl.)

You can say I have an overactive imagination.
