Summary: Phoenix goes missing and it's up to Edgeworth to find him.
It wasn’t uncommon for Edgeworth to go missing for a few days however but for Phoenix to disappear was abnormal; so when Maya arrived to an empty office she knew something was up even if she wasn’t sure what exactly it was. However she wasn’t going to panic there was the possibility that something just came up.
Maya sighed and started too walked out the door; this was Phoenix after all she would just find him later it wasn’t her fault if he missed the picnic besides he probably went to the picnic ahead of her anyway.
-----
Ema blinked when Maya arrived alone it wasn’t often that Maya was by herself. “Where’s Mr. Wright?”
“You mean he didn’t come ahead of me?” Maya asked.
Ema shakes her head and Maya sighs, “Then I’m not sure where he is.”
Ema gave a reassuring smile at Maya forlorn expression. “Don’t worry I’m sure he will turn up soon. Maybe Mr. Edgeworth has seen him.”
Maya gave a slight nod and started to head over to where Edgeworth was talking with Lana near the picnic tables.
Lana watched as her sister and Maya approached her and Edgeworth. She was about to ask what was going on when Maya started to cry.
“Nick is gone and I can’t find him anywhere, he’s not answering his phone, or anything!”
Lana blinked slowly and looked over at Edgeworth who looked just as confused as she did. “I’m sorry Maya I haven’t seen Phoenix anywhere.”
Which probably didn’t help stop Maya from crying; in fact it probably made the whole situation worse. Lana looked over at Edgeworth who Maya was now trying to convince to look for Phoenix.
She could see his patience was wearing thin it was probably one of those days which seemed to be happening more and more now.
“All right, I’ll go and looked for Wright.”
Maya had stopped crying and looked at him in surprise, “Really?”
At his nod she cheered and Lana couldn’t help but smiled at the exasperated expression on his face. It looks like the picnic wouldn’t be happening any time soon.
-----
The first place they stopped at was Phoenix’s office, even though Maya had insisted she had searched there, Ema had pointed out there was something she could had missed; which was how the group of them ended up playing detective.
However Lana wasn’t sure who was worse her sister or Miles since the lawyer seemed to be encouraging the game of playing detective. Lana wasn’t sure if he lost his mind from all the work or this was how he acted during his time off. Honestly she didn’t want to know it really wasn’t any of her affairs and besides that was really more a part of Phoenix’s department or at least she thought it was.
Last time she checked they were involved but lately it seemed an on and off thing probably due to the fact that they had been working on the same cases against each other in the last while.
Every so often there was a downtime when the two lawyers wouldn’t be pegged against each other which made everything a whole lot peaceful and their relationship was really one no matter how much Edgeworth tries to deny it.
-----
Ema sighed as she collapsed into a chair as Miles continue to search the room, “Well that settles that he didn’t even leave us a single clue on his whereabouts.”
As Miles continued to search Phoenix’s desk hoping to find some sort of clue but wasn’t having much luck mainly due to the fact that his friend’s desk was a disaster.
Lana walked into the office and stared at Phoenix’s desk for a few moments. “What did you two do to Phoenix’s desk?”
Edgeworth looked at her. “His desk? We didn’t do anything it’s like this normally.”
Lana stared almost as if she was troubling comprehend what Edgeworth had just said. “How can he work like that?”
Edgeworth stared at the desk almost like he couldn’t comprehend the idea of Phoenix working in a mess either. “Some sort of a miracle apparently.”
Lana tried not to laugh as she hid a smile that was sneaking onto her lips at the expression on the lawyer’s face.
-----
“We’ve search the entire office and not even a sign of his whereabouts anywhere,” Ema sighed as she looked at her coffee. “I’m not sure if we are going to find him.”
Lana looked thoughtful compared to her sister who was starting to look depressed. “Well we haven’t checked his apartment yet, maybe there will be a clue there.”
Ema perked up slightly. “You think so?”
Lana nodded. “However we’ll have to get a key or find someone who does.”
“Oh do you know someone who has a key? Ema asked.
Lana smiled at her sister warmly. “Of course I do.”
-----
Lana waited with her sister as Edgeworth opened the door to Phoenix’s apartment. It had taken some persuasion but less then she expected. Perhaps Edgeworth was concerned with where Phoenix was. She always knew he would worry about him eventually, however it was still surprising to actually see the expression on his face. After all Edgeworth wasn’t one to show his feelings in the open.
Edgeworth opens the door and gestured for them to enter first and after everyone was in he closed the door.
Ema walked forward her gaze swept through the room and she turned too looked at her sister. “Its worst then his office was.”
Lana laughed and Edgeworth lips looked liked he was smiling or at least something close to it. “You actually expected it to be clean?”
“Well I was hoping…” Ema said looking at the room with a sigh. “How does he live like this?”
Lana laughed as the three of them began to search around the room for some sort of clue on Phoenix’s whereabouts, hoping that this time they would have more luck then they had at his office.
However what none of them had been expecting was the door opening when they were still searching around the room. Furthermore none of them expected the new room occupant to be the man they had been looking for all day.
Edgeworth just looked at him and glared. “Where have you been?”
Phoenix blinked. “I was out of town I told Maya to tell you that I wouldn’t be able to make it to the picnic.”
Edgeworth expression darkening almost like he was planning someone’s death. Phoenix just looked at him. “Uh Miles?”
Miles didn’t answer in fact he just stormed out of the apartment slamming the door after him.
Phoenix winced at the door being slammed and sighed. He wasn’t sure what he did wrong but he had a feeling it was his fault, again.
“Mr. Wright?”
Phoenix turned and looked over at Ema. “Yeah what is it?”
“It’s going to take a lot of flowers to get you out of this mess.”
Phoenix blinked. “Flowers?”
Ema nodded. “Or whatever you give when you’re sorry, I read in a book once that when two people who are in love they give flowers to each other when they fight.”
Lana looked like she was trying hard not to laugh at her sister’s advice. Edgeworth was not the sort of person to accept flowers as ‘I’m sorry’ type of gift.
Phoenix just buried his face in his hand and sighed. It was going to take him a lot of flowers to get out of this situation, shame there wasn’t enough flowers in the world for that besides Edgeworth would just throw the flowers back in his face anyway. He would have to think of something else quick before he got in any more trouble.
