<3 <3 <3 I love all the mythology in it. And the more solid blending to explain why Cu Chulainn would BE in post-Conception Tokyo. And yes, yes, Cu Chulainn would totally understand the story of the boy hero. <3!
Thank you! I spend probably way too much time with Cu Chulainn in my party. Because he's too awesome for words. And I adore how well-spoken and noble he sounds when he talks to me at level up. mmm.
Mmm. I love Cu Chulainn's point of view here and the slightly archaic tone it gives the piece (and the way that contrasts with the demi-fiend's lines and their decidedly modern sound).
Thank you! The tone was definitely the trickiest thing about writing it -- making sure that Cu Chulainn's narration had the right sort of archaism, and also that Naoki's dialogue did *not*. I'm so happy that it worked for you. ^^
Given I'm fascinated by mythology, especially Celtic and Gaelic seeing as I'm pretty much solely of Scottish and Irish origin, can I just say that I *love you so hard right now*?
Every reference is gorgeous, you manage to make Scathach her game self without sacrificing any of her coolness, though Cu's unease with her now makes me all goopy sad. Love every last scar reference, especially the idea of appendix removal and Cu not knowing what it is, I love the idea of the furs (just... oh, that mental image, *melt*) and resorting to mattresses but it still being okay, and I am beyond in love with the voices you have for both of them - Cu's is so very right, noble and polite but sensible, and Naoki is so... so very our world, and yes.
I am smitten and in love with this. Totally in love. Thank you for it <3!
I am so glad you enjoyed it! I'm so deeply in love with Cu Chulainn, both in his original source and in his Nocturne incarnation -- when I saw this prompt waiting to be claimed, I couldn't leave it alone. It was really just a treat to work on, and I'm thrilled that it wound up being as much fun for you as for me. <3
Your characterization of Cu Chulainn, and the flow of your narrative from his voice, are amazing. I'm not a fan of this pairing at all, yet I found myself reading it intently and enjoying it a great a deal.
Did you research the mythology surrounding Cu Chulainn before writing this piece, or had you already known it?
Thank you! It was a little of both -- I'd read some of Cu Chulainn's stories before this, but I definitely went back to look at them again to make sure I'd have a good set of important scars to deal with.

The idea that at Naoki's age Cu Chulainn was holding off all of Connacht single-handed just fills me with ♥
