Meeting number 2

Happy Thanksgiving! Today is Mike's birthday so we have doubly reason to Celebrate, Baby Snake's birthday was on the 24th. We're currently in Cambria headed to San Luis Obispo today where we hope to spend a full day resting before we venture on.

Things sure have been interesting, we all sat down today and had a meeting about different things. We've all been going at very different paces and it is difficult to reconcile how we can travel as a group. Both BS and Rachel are talking about not wanting to go into Central America leaving potentially only Mike and I. I've gotten thoroughly frustrated with BS on some occasions but hopefully we're going to be working things out in the near future to be able to continue to travel together.

We also met another insane bicycle enthusiast named Michael, he tours on a single speed, and kicks my friggin ass going up any hill. He is in total more weight than me and my bicycle but he carrys less than 40 pounds including his bike! He is 2 meters tall, half black, a very smart guy, but will depart ways with us tomorrow as he can go much faster and is on more of a timeline.

Going through Big Sur was fun, I'd heard a lot of good things about it and it held up, we found a rainbow gathering that was quite impromptu and hung out for the evening after enjoying some of the dankest beers I've ever had. But the hills through this part of the coast have been quite rigorous and I am glad for my super gear! We've also been fortunate to only have one day of rain, and nearly all the rest of gorgeous warm sunshine. We have seen the remnants of the fires around Big Sur and they are preparing for quite the landslides when the next big rains come.

The first week of the trip I spent outside of Medford, the second week in San Francisco and we are almost on week number 2 of biking. We did hole up in Santa Cruz for 3 days because I developed some muscle pain and soreness after crashing in SF before we left. Not a bad crash, no damage to the bike, but I suffered a scraped knee as well as a badly sprained wrist which has kept me from juggling until today! I have almost finished the full hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy series while long has been most enjoyable, especially while traveling myself. Gives all new importance to the almighty towel!

Anyway, we continue South, we are eating a lot more than I expected and going slower, the food stamps is most beneficial to have, I'm very excited to be reaching the coast and enjoying warmer weather South and landscape that is new to my eyes. Everything has been holding up well, I sent my warmer clothes back home in an attempt to further minimalize. Pearl plus all my gear is nearly weighing in at 100 pounds total when I'm full on water and food, reminds me of Micah.... How do I get rid of more of this stuff?

I've also successfully gotten another person to eat dumpstered food as we're starting to conserve a little more (as my food stamps ran out). Generally all is well, I already miss the people I love in Portland. Know that I am safe and well and that there is no need to worry about me.

The group wants to spend Christmas in Tijuana.... drunk..... with Machetes ^_^
