pre-emptive excitement

so, i actually got to sleep for more than four hours last night, and am feeling rather cheerful. :) yay! i'm almost done! there's still a bit of stuff left (work-wise, not time-wise), but i'm just too thrilled about all the fun things that await doing that, well, it's worth the temporary drudgery.

a very long post awaits you; it's but a click away ( Read more... )

yay! what an awesome reply! :)

1. wow! i find most of the classic tomes rather intimidating, to be honest. *more shame* (perhaps my bookworm cred should be revoked...) i also prefer reader-friendly sizes, especially until i'm familiar with the author and am fairly sure that i enjoy his/her writing, style, etc... plus, i insist that books be snuggleable...if they can't be read in a comfortable position, or carried around without giving you a back-ache...well...it'd have to be reallllly good...

2. i did not know this about you! we just might have to go on a marathon walk together! :)

3. i have the same distaste for being watched while exercising. which is why i've never understood the meat market factor at the gym. why do people do that? =/ anyhow, where do you run? are you able to run on concrete or asphalt? (i find anything other than gravel or grass debilitating for my body...)

4. if i make food, you folks'll have to help me eat it. in fact, i should have you over for dinner! (can't promise it'll be the best food you've ever eaten, but it's never too too bad..) :)

5. i'm so terrible at it. i want to keep and collect everything because i believe that it all possesses some amount of intrinsic, sentimental value. in my adolescence, i think i went through a napkin-collecting phase where i'd keep one napkin from each place i visited. (that was eventually put to an abrupt end because i wasn't organized enough to implement a comprehensive labelling system to keep them distinct...)

6. here are some links that you may want to check out. it all depends on what you're looking for, whether you want something really compact, whether you prefer a particular brand, what kinds of features you absolutely need etc. i recommend that you read some of the reviews to get a feel for what is generally desirable in a digicam. i decided to stick with canon because i've been happy with the other canon that i own. also, i knew that having manual functions would be a necessity, as i'm trying to learn how to take better pictures, and want to be able to putz around with the settings. but i've definitely had to make compromises...they can be so expensive! so far, though, i'm really pleased because i've been able to take pics of the same thing at different settings and compare the outcome and learn from it. yay!

(they're pretty navigable...and whenever in doubt, just type in something like "best digital camera" in the search...i did that a couple of times and had to wade through a lot of stuff, but not entirely for naught!)

regarding not knowing what we look like: that's exactly what makes me weird around mirrors. they project illusions more than anything else. it's the whole you-can't-touch-your-right-elbow-with-your-right-hand thing. it's as if it's part of our human constitution that we can't catch ourselves as ourselves knowingly. so bizarre.

7. i was supposed to take advantage of our cancelled plans and get lots of work done. alas!

8. you should! :) it's so awesome to be able to get back to doing creative things...

don quixote's an easy read, at least.

yeah, i run on the sidewalks - you're not allowed in outremont parks at night. anyway, that's scary.

i'd love to have dinner, but i got fat today so i'm eating strictly melons from now on. at least until later today

i'll go now...watching myself, being myself...
