Interesting Points for today

Ok so its 417am and I am still not tired, what a shock. I am at about 37 hours of being awake. Its weird cause I know its Monday, but yet I am thinking its still Saturday because I have yet to go to bed. Should be interesting with how long I sleep for once I do crash.

While I have been up though I have first accomplished something I have been working on for weeks, a puzzle. yeah it sounds weird but I got this photomosaic homer simpson puzzle. So 1000 little peices, each with parts of frames from episodes of the simpsons. so you can understand why it took 2 weeks of free time, and this past week of most of my sick time to complete it.

The next point is actually important. So I am thinking that when i graduate next december that its going to be hard to find a job. a lot of universities do not do hiring mid-year. So if i do find a job, I will more than likely have to relocate to another state. Knowing that i started to think that with my turning 24 next fall I believe I can finally dip into my trust. If so then I am delaying my graduation for an internship, that is also if i decide to apply for it and get it. Here is the thing, the opportunity would be amazing, getting there would suck. So here it is with the FBI's Leadership Development Unit. Basically I help teach classes, assis the instructors, and more in their leadership developement program and the FBI Acadamy in Quantico VA. Knowing my dad wouldn't give me the money to do it, despite the opportunity it is, I would need my trust to open up. The internship is experience only for 12-16 weeks, no pay. Getting the paid internship is tougher and they do not carry a program of interest to me. So basically I would have to find an apartment near the academy and move in for 3-4 months. So would have to be able to pay that rent and cover all of my bills while working full time with no pay. So yeah the trust is needed. The part that may keep me from applying though is the process. First off the standard form application is 13 pages long, and that is just for your background.

Let me explain this to you. They want to know every place you have ever lived, the contact information of multiple people that knew you at every location. They want to know each institution you have gone to, again multiple instructors/department heads that knew you. Same thing for jobs. It doesn't end there. They want an entire listing of your family, dead and alive to the best of your knowledge, with their addresses. This would include my step-father bill and my step sister tiffany. Oh yeah, not to mention any close associates. Does it end there? Nope! Police records, medical records clearance, drug use, alcohol use, investigations records, financial records, and of course any court records. That is just on the application and they always want details. And if you lie on this application when they do a background check, or the oh so lovely polygraph test as part of the interview if you are lucky enough to get one, then not only do you not get the position, you can be sent to jail for falsifying documents. So not only would I have to tell them that I have smoked pot before, but they want a rough estimate of the time frame in my life I was smoking, and about how many times I smoked.

If that is not invasive enough for you, this is the fun part. They ask you all of that stuff for a reason. A friend of the family works for the FBI and my father once told me the story about when that guy was going through the process of getting hired, which was close to 30 years ago. They called up the house to schedule an interview. A guy stopped by and started asking my mother a bunch of questions because she was good friends and an old classmate of the guy's wife. My father had met the guy 3 times at that point. He was also interviewed. So basically they run through all of your medical files, educational and work history, and so on, then they start going around to your friends, family, co-workers, and (again) so on interviewing them all and drilling them with questions about you.

Given the money comes up, would I really want to put myself through this, let alone all of the people I know? According to the paperwork even Kristen would need to be interviewed. Hell, Backy and her parents would need to be also. That would make for an interesting interview.
