This Day in Yankees History:

1912 - The Yankees fall, 7-6, in the first game played at the newly built Fenway Park. (Dear Yankees, I expect a better result today, thanks.) This date also saw the opening of Tiger Stadium, in the same year, and Wrigley Field, in 1916.
1939 - The Yankees prevail 2-0 in the only game in baseball history to feature Lou Gehrig and Ted Williams.
1961 - Yankee favourite, Don Mattingly was born.
1988 - Dave Winfield, Claudell Washington and Jack Clark slug three historic Yankees homers - #9,999, #10,000 and #10,001 respectively.
