1922: A couple of pre-game fights break out in the dugout - first Bob Meusel and Wally Schang duke it out, then Babe Ruth and Wally Pipp take their turn. The team then unites to turn on the St. Louis Browns, beating them 11-6. 1935: The Yankees are the victim of a pretty strange double-play in which batter Jesse Hill's line drive bounces off the head of Senators piitcher Ed Linke, into the air to be caught by C Jack Redmond, who then throws to second to get base-runner Ben Chapman. 1948: Babe Ruth makes his last public appearance at the NYC premiere of 'The Babe Ruth Story'. He will pass away three weeks later. 1952: Mickey Mantle hits his first career grand slam, though the Yanks lose to the Tigers 10-6.
Sergio Mitre has been moved back to the bullpen, as Dustin Moseley is given a shot in the rotation in Andy Pettitte's absence.
