(no subject)
I'm not sure where my problems started, but I've been struck with a slew of illnesses since I got to Albuquerque (and before too). The most recent and best addition is a wonderful case of pink eye, which really makes life blow.
The weekend was alright. Henni and I were going to climb Wheeler Peak, but there was about a foot of snow in the parking lot. We knew there would be snow on the peak, but not at 9000' (we ended up above 10k feet in the Pecos Wilderness, with little to no snow). Since we didn't have waterproof boots/gaiters/a ground tarp, we decided to move on to greener pastures. We had a nice little night overall.
Finally, we got moved out of the IPB, where all the work we had to do was read Wikipedia. Zach and I got moved to the Center for Cyber Defenders (CCD), which is much more suited to our age level... the average ages seems to be about 20 among the 15 or so interns. The whole building is interns, actually. Kind of like a play room. We spent the last two days settling in... building our computers and such. I don't know... I guess it's economical for them to have us assemble the computers? It was a cool experience. I want to keep it, since it has a quad processor @ 2.4GHz, 4GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive. I am becoming familiar with Ubuntu, as I guess it's useful for our projects. Henni and I will be working on a project we created that is, essentially, Digital Forensics of Shipborne Systems (especially nav systems). The idea is that data can be recovered from ship systems (especially GPS or ENav systems) and used for some purpose (legal? research?). It's pretty ambitious, considering we have 4 weeks here. There was a thought that we could use this as a thesis project... if I don't hate it by June 12th then that's a real possibility. We'll see.
The interns are taking an awesome 4-DAY-WEEKEND this Memorial Day. We thought we didn't get the 26th off, but we were dead wrong. So we're all gonna drive up to Colorado (where Ryan Mowbray is from) and party... which I'm looking forward to. Since I'm sick, I've decided I will swear off beer and exercise for the week (the 6AM exercising really throws me off because I wake up at half hour intervals from 4AM thinking it's time to get up and work out... lost a lot of sleep the last two nights). I really wish I could get healthy.
I need to clean my pigsty room. The maid only replaces towels and makes the bed.
