OK, so I'm counting again.
But it's already the third week of the semester!
And so far things are going well.
But this week I had to submit my class schedule for - get this - May Term, first and second summer sessions, fall semester and, yes, next spring semester. So, while I don't know what I'm doing this weekend, I know what I'll be teaching in 2007!
So I got to thinking ahead a bit more short-term.
I know I plan to head home to see my family during the free week after the semester ends.
As for summer, I really want to plan time - if possible - to take
gapboy75 to Philadelphia. I've only been there in rather cold October and unseasonably cold early April. I'd love to walk the streets of Center City (no, not as a streetwalker - don't go there!) during nice weather.
So what about Spring Break?
One of my thoughts has been to visit New Orleans. My favorite B&B is in business, as are several of my favorite clubs, not to mention Café du Monde and the French Market. Since N'awlins is where I plan to retire some day, and since it's a city where, shortly after I arrive each time I get asked by strangers for directions, it would seem a nice (and affordable) escape. Plus I can help the city by spending money there.
On the other hand, there's a possibility to go with a church-related group to Mississippi to help rebuild and clean up houses damaged by Katrina. The only problem there is not the labor, but the fact that I've just gotten enough hospital bills paid that I'm not sure I want to risk any problems from working around mold and having to wear a respirator unit all day. (I know what you're thinking - what about health issues of partying in the French Quarter?) Maybe I could go to NOLA and give some money toward the mission trip.
Or - I could use the week to move to another unit in the complex where I live, maybe to a three-bedroom place with more space - and one with new carpet, etc.
Or - I could spend some time in Memphis and some time in Franklin.
Or - I could stay home and finish some more stories for the book I'm writing.
Or - I could just stay home and sleep late each day.
But, hey, I could sleep in each day in New Orleans.
Decisions, decisions.
