SmaSma Conducting Lesson

Jan 29, 2014 22:00

This is what I love about these guys ♥  They understand what "entertainment" is.
How much drama and comedy can you expect from a bunch of guys challenged conducting a group of musical orchestra for the first time?

It's totality. When they know they will be bad at it, they don't give an ordinary bad performance, they know no one would want to see that.  "If I'm bad at it anyway, then why don't I just give an all-out bad performance altogether... that'd be entertaining for the audience... something that can make the audience laugh"

This is their mindset and this is why I never get bored watching their shows. They know exactly what the audience wants to see.
Not to mention, the balance of the good and the bad among these guys are unbelievably perfect. People wants to see something good but also something bad from these guys for comparison. That's why we have Takuya, the perfect one and Goro, the clown of the episode. If Goro didn't come out awful... Nakai would gladly take over that role, but he saw Goro took the role perfectly, so Nakai know he had to present something else different in his performance... and this guy is really a genius... Nakai's conducting was easily my favorite, though Takuya won the #1 status from Sensei. Nakai's performance was a combination of honki(serious)+warai(humor)+entertainment, even so... the music that came out from his conduction was beautiful and the rhythm was controlled beautifully... I didn't know that's even possible.

GORO

Comments for Goro from Sensei that was shown as screentext while Goro was conducting:
1. You have to clearly give them the sign when to start!
2. You have to be the driving force!
3. Keep the tempo!
4. Lead them properly!
5. There's more, it's not finished!

He started so slow and then suddenly so fast. Nakai scold him "Fuzakeruna!(don't kid around!)". Goro stopped, "No I'm not!"  Nakai "You were obviously kidding around!"
In addition to his already-horrid way in leading the orchestra, Goro didn't know when the music has to stop, he's not familiar with the music at all, even worse seems like he didn't pay attention to the music when Sensei performed the example ... and when he thought it's over... it's still NOT!!! I saw one of the flautists was blowing the flute while trying so hard to hold back her laugh. Takuya was practically and visually ROTFL-ing, mwahahaha~  Shingo bent his back laughing so hard and maybe he felt he just couldn't see more of Goro embarrassing himself, haha .... Nakai made a gesture that the music has not finished "Mada mada mada... there's still more!" .... Tsuyoshi was having fun laughing at Goro too, haha.

Takuya: In a way... that was amazing!
Goro: "The music just won't end... I was wondering... when will this end?" omg, what a dork, lol.
Tsuyoshi: That must be the first in the world!
Nakai: You were going to go back to your seat, weren't you?

Sensei's comment: The way you ended the music was quite original and new. (lol, of course)

I was really amazed how Goro kept his confidence high to the end even after he embarrassed himself, mwahahaha

SHINGO

Sensei screentext comments for Shingo:
1. The way you balance yourself at the start was GOOD!
2. You expressed the rhythmical march very well.
3. You're really good at toning down the tension.
4. You're also very good at raising the tension.
5. WONDERFUL!

Tsuyoshi: Niiicee....
Nakai: You stressed some parts.
Shingo: I'm losing my breath just with that... I didn't know it's this tiring.

Sensei's Comment: You have the physical ability as a conductor, you have the muscles required to be a conductor. I envy you. If you get more practice, you can do a bigger thing.

TAKUYA

Sensei screentext comments for Takuya:
1. Ooh!!
2. I can see he has the music constructed well inside his head.
3. The balance is very good too!
4. He even cleared the difficult parts of the music!
5. BRAVO!!!

Tsu: That was perfect!
Nakai: Perfect!
Takuya: It felt so good! *to the orchestra members* Thank you so much!
Goro: You were good.

Sensei's Comment: He excels in balance. He must have pictured the music very well inside his mind. He conducted with that in mind and that's why he successfully presented the music shape. Also, the way he conduct with his gestures make it possible for him to drive an orchestra with more than 100 people.

Takuya did a great and perfect job while he kept tossing his hair around... I had to make sure this is not a Gatsby commercial, mwahahaha.... sasuga Captain! Kakkoiiii~~!

TSUYOSHI

Sensei screentext comments for Tsuyoshi:
1. Give the signal properly! The sound came out coincidentally.
2. Lead them properly!
3. The way you made the percussion sound louder at right moment was good!
4. Keep the tempo!
5. You're leading well here.

Goro: There was a drama there.
Shingo: You're soaked in sweat!
Goro: Somehow it makes us sweat different than when we sweat after we dance.
Tsu: I felt everyone's energy.

Sensei's Comment: Your delicate and introvert side was shown there. You might not be reading the music score, but you kept staring at it, cause you immersed into the music world.

NAKAI

Nakai started with a skit, acting like he's making the violinist ojisan to relax. hahaha...

Shingo: Sensei... does conducting has anything to do whether or not one is good at singing?
Nakai: SHUT UP!!!
lolol!

I love how Nakai closed his eyes before he start *v*   like he was really focusing himself.
And the way he folded his lips together shows like he was realistically concentrating *v*
And omg how I love that spin at the end haha!

Sensei screentext comments for Nakai:
1. He has the ability to make the orchestra concentrate.
2. He has a good driving force!
3. Very Good!
4. Entertaining!
5. He actually has the ability to put together/unify the orchestra!
6. WONDERFUL ENTERTAINMENT!

Tsuyoshi, Takuya: Did you just do a Michael Jackson spin??

Sensei's Comment: I can see Nakai-san is multi-talented. It made me realize there's such way as well.

Goro: A way?
Sensei: Ah, I mean, various ways of presentation.
Tsu: Is it possible to point at individuals too? Like how he pointed at ojisan only?
Nakai: I meant to instruct him to "COME ON!" but he didn't respond. This is the 5th time, so he looked tired already. So I tried to bring his spirit back like "COME ON!! KEEP IT UP!"

Number 1 chosen by Sensei was Takuya! Woohoo... well-deserved! But my fav stays Nakai ^v^

The least suited to be a conductor was Goro.

Goro: Hee?? Uso!(no way)
Nakai: What do you mean 'uso'?? The whole nation of Japan would agree you're the least suited!
Goro: *to violinist ojisan* No such thing, right??
Ojisan: Daijoubu yo (its alright).

Hahahaha.... ojisan yasashiii~~!! And the way Goro acting like he was dramatically shocked "He?? uso!" was so adorkable haha!!
