Just... surprised... suddenly they talk like brothers, praising each other... that's rare^^ (esp. Nakai, who usually never praises XD) Their talk here is quite sweet (just like the outfits, heehee), so I decided to translate it.
Q. You will be having your 20th CD debut anniversary soon. Please talk about your memories together so far.
Nakai: 20 years huh... I didn't realize that. Even if people say it's a turning point, I didn't do anything anyway. It was just the usual one year. It's like the man who graduated college has turned 42 years old, that's all.
Goro: I think it's really something if our child has finally become an adult. (*in Japan, they will celebrate becoming an adult on 20 years of age.) The fact that the audience of our concert has broke through 10 million people, I'm very grateful these people had been riding the same boat with us.
Nakai: But our relationships and roots has not changed, na.
Kimura: As for presence, Shingo changed the most, desho. Shingo, who used to stand behind us, is standing and singing at the very front now.
Tsuyoshi: He was only an elementary school kid when we were formed, ne. He used to carry knapsack bag to the filming set... actually I said that alot, but I never really see him carrying a knapsack. (laugh)
Goro: His presence is like a monster now. Like having the monster role...
Nakai: Shingo is smart afterall, na.
Kimura: The fact that SmaSTATION keep continuing is big, right? He's the head of that live show. Also taiga drama, Shinsengumi. It's a totally different drama than what we usually do. In a way, he has accomplished a challenge from all over Japan, it's really something.
Tsuyoshi: As for Goro-san, not that he changed, but he has matured ne. Long ago, he was so hysterical. (laugh)
Goro: I really couldn't cooperate, ne. I was totally a child until I was 25. But since then, I was able to hold myself back.
Nakai: No one has personality like Goro, ne. Like reactions during a talk... he can just let out unexpected things casually. This is SMAP's best weapon and now it makes him stands out.
Goro: Nakai-kun used to warn me about it indirectly, but it was quite hard to respond. (laugh)
Tsuyoshi: You had interest in movies, art and furniture, like your own "Goro-san World" since long time ago, ne.
Shingo: And now with the curly....
Goro: My hairstyle?
Shingo: Un. I like it very much. I also watched your movie "13 Assassins" and your getsuku drama, and I thought finally Goro-chan shows his specialty! (laugh) Why don't you be more bold in 2011, with another evil role, but showing your abs and goes half naked.
Kimura: If it's the muscles and action type, wouldn't it be shocking?
Shingo: I want to see Inagaki Goro in tanktop, naa~ (laugh)
Nakai: How about Tsuyoshi?
Kimura: Tsuyoshi always perform in different forms in every drama/movie. And everytime I see that, I always feel he's really doing it with all his strength.
Shingo: His Korean really surprised me. Compared to my half-learned English...
His concentration strength to one thing, is awesome. I want to see you in a Korean movie. It's your dream right?
Tsuyoshi: Un. I want to act in one, someday.
Nakai: Tsuyoshi wa sa... actually Goro too, they're like the 3rd son and 4th son of the group, so they have difficult positions. So I think it's hard for them. It's not about attack and defense, but most of the time they're being bullied by the other three, like it's the usual thing.
Tsuyoshi: Like a formula, ne. I'm the only one you can bully. As the hidden weapon.
Goro: Sometimes he would "attack"(tsukkomu) Kimura-kun, like he's insensible. That's interesting.
Nakai: He's really not good, when he has to act like he's insensible. But when he is really being insensible, somehow he seem so happy.
Tsuyoshi: Well, since there are aggressive people above and under us, so we have to take a step forward, nee, Goro-san. We're used to it. (laugh)
Goro: Sou, sou.
Nakai: I'm actually that type too.
Shingo: Really??
Tsuyoshi: Nakai-kun, you're like oniichan (older brother) and otoko-rashii (manly). You're the hard type, the yankee type.
Nakai: What are you talking about?
Tsuyoshi: I'm praising you. Just like Kimura-kun, you would also run straight ahead first, for us. Then I would work hard to follow you.
Kimura: To have his own name on the show's title, or being Kouhaku host, is really something!
Shingo: Un, the 4 of us had seen Nakai-kun's back many times. That's just how much you were surrounded by so many people.
Kimura: It was sugoi that time. During rehearsal, when the whole White Team's performers gathered, then Nakai greeted "Kotoshi mo yoroshiku onegaishimasu!(your favour again pls this year)".
Goro: I kept wondering if it was all started since Nakai started leading concert MC talks long time ago.
Nakai: I've wanted to become a host since I was a teenager. But becoming a Kouhaku host is something I achieved because I'm a SMAP member. So, I always introduce myself with "SMAP no Nakai desu.". It's all thanks to SMAP, y'know. Actually, if you have a will, any of you can become the (Kouhaku) host. Kimura can, Shingo can, Tsuyoshi can... impossible for Inagaki-san though. (laugh)
Goro: Ahahaha!
Nakai: Speaking of that, don't you appear in IiTomo quite frequent lately?
Goro: Do I?
Nakai: You do! You should be a regular! Like for Sunday.
Tsuyoshi: That would be Zoukangou!! (laugh)
Shingo: Nakai-kun, why are you doing "Aji Ichimonme" again now?
Nakai: I don't get it myself. (laugh)
Shingo: But I'm looking forward to it! I also want to see another movie like "Watashi wa Kai ni Naritai"!
Kimura: Sometimes, I would like to see him in a movie/drama where he is being chased after.
Shingo: As for Kimura-kun, one of the latest one was CHANGE's prime minister! That long line in the final episode. You look almost like the real prime minister.
Goro: Kimura-kun is hard-working, ne. Long ago, when we went back from Hawaii, after Johnny-san taught him, he really did his homework on the plane.
Kimura: Which era are you talking about??
Tsuyoshi: Kimura-kun is the rock type in daily life, ne.
Nakai: Rock da ne.
Goro: Rock desu yo. When we become an adult, there are parts of ourselves that we tried to hold back to fit in.... I pretty much do that too... hehe...
Nakai: Don't "hehe", you!!
Goro: Kimura-kun always enforce his own will.
Nakai: In a way, that means Kimura has not changed the most, huh? I can never forget the rehearsal at the National Stadium. It was raining and the four of us came first and said "What should we do? We'll freeze out there!" while holding our heads. Coincidentally, Kimura came the last. He looked up to the sky, like welcoming the weather. And he raised his tension. As I saw Kimura that time, I felt ...ahh, I guess we can go through it, somehow.
Tsuyoshi: And we finally did go through it, somehow, ne.
Nakai: Yappari, sugoi, I thought.
Goro: He does not give in, and once he come out of the house, he can immediately switch over his mood. As a style, he's kakkoii!!
Shingo: I want to see Kimura-kun playing guitar again.
Kimura: Actually it was planned that I would do it in Shanghai, huh.
Shingo: Aaa, sou da. I hope I get to see it again in the near future.
Q. Please let us know 2011 SMAP's catchphrase and what you want to do together?
Goro: Let's just continue this "We are SMAP" thing.
Shingo: Something that can exceed that, ne. If we cut out "We are", with "Shingo", it'd become smaller. (laugh)
Goro: SMAP Shop's title, "Are You SMAP?" sounds good too.
Tsuyoshi: I want to make it "NEW SMAP!", we have reached 20 years, and now we'll progress to become new SMAP again.
Shingo: I'll make it "40". People are saying that 20 years is sugoi, so I'll time it twice and I would like to do my best with a feeling of "40th anniversary"!
Kimura: 40?? We haven't reach 40th anniversary... What's good... maybe, "Keep on TRY".
Nakai: I'll make it "STOP THE SMAP" then.
Tsuyoshi: That's our radio programme.
Nakai: I'd like us to do a radio programme together, a talk programme with the five of us.
Shingo: I want to do SMAPxSMAP New Year SP together, the five of us. I couldn't join in 2010 because of influenza. I'd like to go to the studio in the beginning of the year. Because SMAPxSMAP is my home.
Kimura: If it's the 5 of us... then let's appear together in that show, what was it again... "Tousouchuu" (Escape)?
Shingo: Running around Odaiba?
Goro: It's nice to go out. Just like when we walked around New York together.
Tsuyoshi: I want to have a meal together, the five of us, just normally. In the city, without cameras around, just the five of us.
Nakai: I won't be able to stand that. (laugh)
Goro: It would be okay! The first 10 mins might be awkward, but then as we break the ice after that, it gets interesting.
Tsuyoshi: Minna, is the shy type, ne.
Nakai: Not shy! Fine, then why don't we all ride the love wagon (the car in Ainori show) and go to a hotspring together??
Tsuyoshi: Ii ne (that's nice). If there are five of us, SMAP, I wonder if girls would ride on?
Nakai: Are you serious?? (laugh)
