SMAP mystery comedy drama special, "Poison Tomato Murder Case" had been secretly filmed!
The five members of SMAP will appear together in a television drama for the first time in approximately six years. The drama is a special titled "Doku Tomato Satsujin Jiken," said to be the industry's first "candid-camera drama" - much of it was filmed during taping for a variety show without SMAP's knowledge.
The variety show involved was the now-annual TV Asahi special "SMAP Ganbarimasu!!" On the show, the five members took on various challenges: Masahiro Nakai (37) played a survival "onigokko" game on a remote island for 12 hours, Takuya Kimura (37) ate only tomatoes for three days, Goro Inagaki (36) sang at karaoke until he achieved a score of 100, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi (35) climbed all of the hills in the Meguro ward within 24 hours, and Shingo Katori (33) lived a Jomon period lifestyle for an entire day.
During the taping for the show, which aired on January 10, scenes for the drama were secretly filmed. Actor Sei Hiraizumi (66), playing a police detective, visited each of the SMAP members' locations without them noticing.
"Doku Tomato Satsujin Jiken" revolves around a fictional variety show called "SMAP Sekai no Yasai wo Kurau." The show's host, announcer Yoko Oshita (40), dies in her own home after eating a poisoned tomato, which came from the set of the show. The detective played by Hiraizumi takes on the case, searching for the SMAP member responsible for the crime. While the drama is a mystery, it naturally incorporates elements of comedy as well.
TV Asahi plans to broadcast the drama on July 1 at 7:57pm.

Below are the director and the members' comments that I gathered and compiled from various news articles.
Seem like, few days ago, SMAP members were invited to watch the final product of the drama together earlier than other people. And after they watched, they were interviewed and gave their comments.
Nakai:
"Each of us filmed the show for 1-2 nights and 2-3 days in different times at the end of year right? It all took abt 4 days. I wonder why didn't they plan a normal drama for us, instead?? (laughs) But it was really fun! My stomach is full!"
"I'm worried that they're currently filming dokkiri footage too, now,"
Kimura:
"The staff understand our personality and characteristics very well, and they actually have lead us (to get the footage they want). Everything had been thoroughly prepared in advance. It's amazing that they can make up a story from just our natural expressions,"
Goro:
"It seem like the staff knows each of our personality very well. If only they told me about it, I could be more cooperative for this!"
Tsuyoshi:
"I absolutely have no idea there's an actor acting as a police right behind me!"
(lol, to think of it, it means, Tsuyoshi got double-dokkiri in the show XD)
Shingo:
"There are many examples in life, when we want to do something new, but it just can't go smoothly. In variety shows, there are many genre too, and everyone must have done some trial and error. But this is the first time I ever thought this is a VERY NEW thing! This must be really the first in history, right? I really enjoyed watching it as the first audience,"
Tomoyori Takahide, the editing director and scripwriter:
"The fact that the first drama I ever directed is a SMAP-leading drama is such an honor for me. It has been such a hard work I had to gone through on the filming set, during the editing, we also had to change the flow of the story. But I believed that we have done something good as I saw how much the staff worked so hard. I don't think I would ever do this kind of dokkiri drama ever again. And I don't think this can be repeated so easily as well. I hope everyone would enjoy this candid-SMAP drama,"

Broadcast time: 7:57 - 9:48 PM. 1 hour 51 minutes! Sugoi ne! It's a proper drama special duration!!^o^
I really LOLed to see the police stalking Goro from afar, on top of a roof with a telescope, mwahahaha.... indeed, mystery dorama-ppoiii~~
I felt goosebumps when Kimura was sitting in a relax position, smiling, "It has become a case, huh(jiken ni nacchatteru ne)"... hieee, when did he say that?? And why would he say that??
And I really wonder why did Goro call Nakai?? What for? It was not in the Ganbarimasu aired in January deshou? Goro said, "Ano sa... chotto kikitai koto ga aru(there's something I want to ask)...". So Nakai and Goro's filmings were at the same time?? So that means, they also have to match Nakai and Goro's filming schedule!!O_O What if their schedules didn't match that time? What if none of the members' schedule met? They won't be able to make up member call a member footage!
Seriously, besides talent, skill and capability, the staff needed a BIG LUCK for this drama to happen XD They are really blessed!
TV Asahi staff should get an award for the idea alone! I think this might be the first, not only in Japan, but in the world. Has America ever did dokkiri drama/movie like this without the leading roles knowing?? XD Or maybe other countries?? I really don't know any^^ If anyone know such dokkiri drama has existed before, pls let me know, ne~
TV Asahi, honto ni SAIKOU!!!*v* I want to write a 'thank you' letter to TV Asahi, for making this happen! haha~
Can't wait, can't wait!!! I'm so excited! Hayaku mitai yooo~~
