whining about my site

Jan 19, 2006 20:28

There is something wrong with my site. It always told me "too much users, try again later" when I tried to update. Granted it's free, 'cause if I have spent money on it I'd be very angry now. But maybe if I did it won't go wrong at all...?
I seldom work hard. Seems it's true that "no good deed goes unpunished"...

Hmm. I'm not sure what you mean by "no good deed goes unpunished." It's a very specific phrase, which is a parody of the phrase, "No good deed goes unrewarded ( ... )

"No good deed goes unpunished," is the perverse but true observation that in reality, the opposite is often true. Let's say, for example, that you were to buy lunch for everyone one day. Then some people would complain that they couldn't get exactly what they wanted to eat for lunch, and some people would be upset because you didn't supply drinks, and one person might sue you because he got food poisoning, and then the Health Department would fine you for having food sitting out without a refrigerator... (This is a somewhat extreme example...)

Exactly what I mean. Of course, I'm joking. Stop being lazy and write something everyday doesn't really count as good deed. Seriously, who is helped by this?

As for your "nothing Chinese to say" problem, I'm tempted to tell you go "你妈贵姓啊?". This is a joke, too. DON'T USE IT! No matter native Chinese or not, one can't understand this sentence except one has watched the Chinese movie 大话西游 and its sequel 大圣娶亲. It's very popular in China here. But I'm not sure what's it like abroad.

Well, the people at my local restaurant are from Fujian, and speak... I'm not sure... it doesn't sound like Mandarin, but I'm hardly an expert, especially when it's spoken with a non-Beijing accent. (They speak Mandarin with me, but not with each other, as far as I can tell.)

Just the same, I certainly don't want to offend anyone... especially not people I order food from.

The one in my user info page. I spent a good part of yesterday to find a new free space.

I put my recs in my site not my LJ because I don't want to be spamming...
