My dad called this afternoon to tell me that Spike is being put to sleep on Saturday morning. My poor little baby. I don't think I can bear it. He's gotten progressively worse and this week has been really bad with him just suddenly losing control of himself and my parents decided it is best for him not to live like this. Of course, I agree

I'm so sorry. I know how you feel. My dog Ginger of 16 years is finally on her last leg and I don't go home till the 2nd. My family says that they don't know if she'll make it until then and I so badly want to say goodbye. It's hell waiting. She's been the consistant in my life thus far.
They become so deeply a part of our lives don't they?
My thoughts and empathy are with you.

It's amazing how much pets become such an integral part of our lives. It's wonderful and that's why the end just sucks so badly. I really hope you get to see Ginger on your next visit home and that way you could have closure. Thanks for your thoughts.
