I hear you about the cold! Last Tuesday afternoon my husband got off work, went out to the car to come home and discovered that his back window had shattered! Most likely from the cold. We had a heck of a time finding a car window repair place, and then were frantically trying to finance the replacement window (both of us pretty much tapped out due to the holidays). We managed, by not buying the usual week's groceries (only replacing perishables like milk when we ran out) and eating leftovers from Christmas week and I decided to pay only minimum on my Goodyear bill (due later this week) as opposed to the tripled amount I'd been sending in an effort to get it paid down quickly -- and amazingly, the SafeLite store gave us a $20 cash discount....

I continue to resist the Facebook and Twitter, although I did reactivate and update my DreamWidth account last year. Like you, I don't comment much (Spellcheck? what's that? mine hasn't functioned since before the Windows 10 upgrade!) A lot of MY favorite people have just vanished....and those that did migrate to DW don't seem to post very much anymore.

I laughed a little to myself over your "Why We Get the BIG Turkey" post .... reminded me of the scene in the movie "A Christmas Story" after the Bumpus Hounds have ransacked the kitchen, and the narrator is bemoaning the upcoming lack of 'Turkey leftovers' -- and then they go out for Chinese.

As much as I love your Tony/SEAL stories, I completely understand that story lines come to an end, and better in my mind that they end gracefully instead of the writer feeling obligated to produce 'another sequel'. It was a wonderful run -- Brava!!!! Now I can look forward to whatever you are inspired by next.

I heard about windows shattering. Ouch! Last time we needed a new window we went to the salvage and found one. Himself is a fair shade tree mechanic, as long as the car was made before 1985 or so. Sorry your window broke.

I have been having trouble with a coupe of readers that just won't let go. Tony!SEAL is done after this story but they keep on with it. It's really messing with my ability to write. I wish they'd just give it up. *sigh*

My husband is a fair hand at auto repair himself, as long as it doesn't involve the computerized stuff and he can get the parts at AutoZone.... but our local salvage yard closed down a few years ago, and even then he would have needed a warm(er) spot to work in --- the temps were in the negative degree range all last week, and only yesterday did we reach the upper side of freezing....

Yeah. Finding a spot can be a problem. We farm so we have a 40x60 shop. We also have one of those jet heaters. It works really well but it sounds like a jet airplane taking off.
