But I find this sort of thing more and more irritating every time it happens.
I got this review and ... just.
You say in this chapter when harry is having his birthday breakfast that
hermione is not there because she is in Spain and then she makes a comment to
harry about snakes and their eating habits. You do something like this in
another chapter before when they're researching in the library and you say
something like, Draco and ron went off to search for books and then only a
moment later say ron just flooed in. I don't remember what chapter it was
though :( just thought you ought to know.
Now, I realize that the reviewer is trying to be helpful ... maybe. Or maybe not.
This is one of the reasons I'm seriously considering my writing. This is not helpful. Which chapter, what line, where? I'm not going to reread half a story to find one word. If you can't quote chapter and line, don't do it. Nitpicking like this is neither helpful nor inspiring. It's just crushing and I'm really tired of it.
If you want to help. Copy and Past the whole paragraph and make the corrections. Tell me where it is in the chapter or don't bother.
Yes, I'm pissed. And tired. I do the best I can and have two betas who do the best they can. It's fanfiction. I'm not getting paid. They're not getting paid.
There are plenty of people here (none on FF) that are extremely helpful, they quote lines, post helpful suggestions and do good jobs, this is not aimed at them. This is aimed at the vague nitpickers who are sucking all the joy out of my writing.
