Second part of our pre-wedding photoshoot + on games, seris and movies

We are completely buried under wedding preparations, especially me. But even now between work, preps and householding duties, I squizz in a little time for my passion - videogames! I finished all Assassin's Creed games and very much looking forward to AC3 this authumn! To try something entirely different, I decided to play Bioshock and what a mixed feeling I have about it..I finished the game on Sunday and it was a quick run. Im really NOT into multiplayers. Story matters most for me in the game. Really do not care much for just shooters. Boom-bada-boom without solid reasoning and plot is not my coup of tea. But a combination of a shooter with something worth experiencing - I will be in line. So, in my opinion:
Pros:
- the setting and era. Undersea city of sceintists without moral obligations tot he society..and that it happens in 1960 - very interesting. I also absolutely loved to play L.A.Noire in post WW2 L.A. (1947) There is something magical about this time. Great opportunities.
- Fighting mechanics, combi of weapos and plasmids. Was cool to juggle between these two, choosing appropriate powers for different setuations and types of enemies (the sounds Big Daddies make are really creepy..the whole atmosphere is creepy. Somewhat cartoonish design eases things up, but it is still c-r-e-e-p-y)
- It is a good story, well narrated. The audio logs that you find along the way, explains a great deal about the world you are in.
- I loved good ending, which you can get if you save ALL little sisters. It was very touching, how he took care of these girls, gave them a chance to live a normal life and they were by his side in the end. Lovely. :) I did watch the bad ending on youtube, but I never play "bad" or "renegate" myself..even just to see how it plays..I can see it on youtube indeed. Wouldn't be me to play renegade.
Cons:
- I am simply not fit to play horrors. As I mentioned, design is somewhat cartoonish, but it is still filled with endless hordes of diformed people (splicers). And I have difficulties with accepting the concept of little sisters..tortured little girls. So, naturally I rescued them all. But yeah, the atmosphere is gory and I had uneasy heavy feeling, while playing.
But it is overal very good, recommended game - mix of 1st person shooter/somewhat horror survival with a well-defind story and mythology.

Still after such a bloody mess I needed to lighten up and played an entirely different game - Catherine. And, boy-oh-boy, what a great game it is! Cathertine is definitely is between 9 and 10 for me (out of 10)..9.5, I'd say. I love Japanese games..these people are just different in their mind set..amazing mix of unlimited imagination, exceptional feeling for beauty and aesthetics and childish cruelty at times. Catherine is a story of Vincent Brooks,a 32-year old software engineer, having a sort of a crysis in his life, not knowing where he stands, what he wants or where he is heading. Vincent has a girlfriend Katherine, who comes around as quite pushy and over-serious and fridig, but it is due to the fact, most likely, that Vincent is such a dusbag in the beginning. Vincent cheats on his girlfriends with a seductress named Catherine (who seems like his perfect ideal woman) and needs to deal with the consequences. He is such undecisive dushbag sometimes, that I almost cannot stand it, but the further you play, the better his personality forms..depending of course on your decisions. The game is split between two worlds - reality and dreams, or rather nighmares, that Vincent experiences every night. In reality he spends time with his friends, Catherine and Katherine and in nighmares his ass is on the line every time as he tries to escape them. Every night he has to climb about 3 stages of towers, consisting of giant cubes. One of the best puzzle-platformers games I ever played. Totally addictive!....time is up, gotta run.....damn!
