Update

Promises-promises...I said I would make a big post with details about the recent changes..but as usual I do not have time and sometime later, it seems to late to make big posts about it..to summarize:

1. Both I and Rogier got new jobs. I now work at Danone (mmmm, Danone!) as PA to Vice president new business development and Finance director Franxe and growth markets. Already have a million stories to tell..but where to find time..or maybe I better keep it to myself anyways..I consider it a good step. This job is exhausting!!! not a second to breathe..I really do not notice how time passes buy..This is a very interesting place, working at Schiphol also very convenient for commuting..the scope is gigantic..level as well. So much to tell..but wiser not to..

Rogier got a new job as consultant at Accenture. His company All options had to shut down fe departments completely, one of which was Rogier's, where he was a desk manager for algo traders..He was in works council, so he knew it was coming somewhat earlier than the rest, but still ti hit hard..within 2 months it was over. he had to stay longer as a member of the works council to settle various social plan matters, etc...Traders are nto aloud to come to their desk if they know their job is terminated..too risky for business. In normal companies if you get notice, you have to work the rest of the period..traders cannot do that. but well, we got this news at the same moment that I heard that instead of permanent comntract at genzyme I was offered another temporary. Thing is..agreement I had with the manager who hired me was not as valid..he resigned few months later (was a gfood manager to me) and I got a new one..Genzyme now risks to eb taken over by Sanofi (another biotech giant from France)..the hostile bid has been placed..situation is difficult and very unstable. Last year in october they had to cut about 1500 people and put a hire freeze on..pff..I should have been happy with a tempo contract, there was no budget for permanent position, but well. It wasn't my plan..As I get older, my desire to have more stability in life increases and dominates. So, I started looking, told my new manager..we agreed that as long as I keep him posted with my search, I can go for interviews. Almost at the start of my search I came across a position at Danone. it gave me shivers..like something I shouldn't have pass by..sort of premonition if you wish hahaha..I really got a feeling i MUST apply there. Interviews went very well and they wanted to hire me, but then Danone entered the hire freeze. Bad timing...I already told my manager and he mentally crossed me off his list..Note: never tell your manager (or your colleagues) what you plan to do, if it not in their itnerests..I really faced how carrier-absorbed and competitive people get in these huge international environments...

Well, both I and Rogier at exactly same time enetered enormous uncertainty..We was not sure how we will pay the bills in coming months, but we were sure we woudl get through it..

Rogier got to know that he accepted at Accenture somewhere end November, beginning december. He had 3 months of paid holidays and, boy, was I jelous!!!! :))))) 2 days before Xmas I got a call from Danone with an offer..the wait that was torturing me for almost 3 months finally paid off..I got 3 weels of vacation myself..it was absolutely necessary. Now I work fulltime again :) Oh, do I miss 4 days and even 90% (every second week day off) but with current load of work, nothign else woudl be possible. I am quite concerned with load of work..As I have 2 directors and one of them, in my opinion, should have his own 100% devoted to him PA..maybe at some point I will raise the question. he wants me to help him with projects and it seems very itneresting, but physically impossibel at the moment..time will tell..I will continue at first opportunity..as it is only the beginnign of the changes we 've entered.

Rogier's new job is not (by far) as profitable as his previous one..but he decided to take 1 step backwards, to make 2 steps forward in his future carrier.

Finger's crossed. His first day tomorrow. More to follow...Gotta run.. (what's new...)
