Ugh...

Happy Chinese New Year to all who celebrate!

It's ang pao time!! *snickers*

One of the highlights of Chinese New Year is the television programs that air specially for the lunar new year. One program that caught my attention was The Biggest Chinese Restaurant in the World, of course, no doubt, should be in China since they obviously have the largest chinese population in the entire world. Thanks to Astro for providing the Asian Food Channel by the way. XD

I watched a certain segment of the program that made me regret ever watching this show again, despite the interesting preview of the show that keep showing during commercial breaks.

There's a chinese saying that goes...

So what could possibly make me feel that way? There's nothing exotic here by the way, it's just the preparation of the animals for the Chinese dishes.

Let's see, how do you prepare a live duck for the Chinese dish? Oh, no problem at all. Just use a chopstick to pierce through the duck near the heart. When pierced, remove chopstick and stick your fingers in the hole to grab out the STILL BEATING heart. Thank goodness for TV censoring.

Ugh, I still feel disgusted thinking about it.

Then, a cooking competition held by the restaurant. Let's race! Who-can-prepare-a-snake-dish-in-the-quickest-time-possible challenge! Just chop of the head, wash the body, remove innards then CHOP CHOP CHOP. Did I mention the snake was alive? Serve the chopped pieces on a plate. Garnish. Serve when each of the pieces are still MOVING OH FOR GOODNESS SAKE. All within 2 minutes.

Next contest, the all famous live frying. To prepare, take live fish out of water pail. Then remove scales, use the knife to make small cuts on the sides of the fish. Hot boiling oil? Check! Hold fish by the head, then deep fry the fish body in hot boiling oil. Serve on plate while the fish is still MOVING OH FOR HEAVENS SAKE.

I walked away after that segment.

I know we eat those everyday (minus the snake) but God, they are prepared in such a cruel manner I couldn't possibly stomach them.

No, I'm not turning vegetarian because of this program. Just need to get it outta my system.

Ugh. God.

I am in no way happy when I typed that out. Just feeling sarcastic. Ugh.

Happy Chinese New Year again~ Going to my godmum's for open house tonight. All my mum's side relatives will most probably be there. I't gambling time! Muahahahha.

Toodles.

rant, daily
