Oh my Gackt...

I didn't even post the most recent Gackt single! Yikes! There is officially something wrong with me, I think. Wronger than usual, even. But hopefully, nothing that Spring Break, vacation, and a shiny new department, manager, and job duties at the bank won't cure... ^_^

Anyway, my dearest GACKT released a single way back on 2010/01/01, and while it was a single, it was more video than audio. Two DVDs and one CD. Once again, GACKT is combining the celebration of his own tenth anniversary with the Kamen Rider stuff. This single is more about Kamen Rider, which strikes me as being a little out of character for GACKT. I don't intend to say that he's full of himself, but he is and we all know it, so maybe that is what I'm trying to say... But he really let go with this single. He didn't even write this one. GacktJOB wasn't involved in this single, either. And it still ended up sounding very GACKT-esque. Maybe a little less than what I generally expect from him, but it's big and cinematic, and I'm sure that was the point. Overall, I was just surprised at how little GACKT there really is in this single. His vocals are only on the first track. I was slightly confused...

01. Stay the Ride Alive
02. Stay the Ride Alive Classic Edit
03. Stay the Ride Alive instrumental

And then I started watching the DVDs, and there was more GACKT and all was right and good with the world again. I think this single may have been more about GACKT the actor, rather than GACKT the singer. And while Masahiro Inoue is adorable (and looks a lot like You from GacktJOB with his hair like that...), he can chew the scenery even more thoroughly than GACKT can! o.O; But even though I make fun of it a little bit, I love GACKT when he gets all overwrought like that, so I sort of love this PV. Regarding the multi-angles, the GACKT version really is all GACKT, and he really isn't in the others. The TSUKASA angle is all Masahiro Inoue, and the instrumental angle is all the post-apocalyptic string ensemble. Interesting...

GACKT - Stay the Ride Alive DVD 1:
01. Stay the Ride Alive PV
02. Stay the Ride Alive multi angle ver. - Original angle
03. Stay the Ride Alive multi angle ver. - GACKT angle
04. Stay the Ride Alive multi angle ver. - TSUKASA angle
05. Stay the Ride Alive multi angle ver.- Instrument angle

And finally, the second DVD in this package. These are GACKT's recent PVs collected in one place, all tying into both his anniversary and Kamen Rider. This has been an entertaining project, and I'm glad that GACKT did all of this! Not that he would ever pass up the chance to make some money and tie his music into some commercial project, but I think he chose well in this case! The making-of clip is 11 minutes long, covers two days worth of PV shooting, and shows that GACKT let other people write the song this time, but he's still a control freak. And he's very beautiful in the process! He seems very happy during this DECADE Project, so I hope that peace and enthusiasm continues into whatever else 2010 holds for GACKT!

GACKT - Stay the Ride Alive DVD 2:
01. Journey through the Decade Music Film
02. The Next Decade Music Cinema Film
03. Stay the Ride Alive Music Film ~Real Edit~
04. Making of "Stay the Ride Alive"

My rip of the CD at 320 kbps, and my rips and AVI encodes of the DVDs, too!

And while I'm at it, I have some GACKT-related random uploads from my backlog at SendSpace, so here they are!

GACKT - Koakuma HEAVEN (Music Station 2009/06/05)

GACKT - Music Station talk part 2009/06/05

GACKT - ANOTHER WORLD (Music Fair 2009/06/06)
