I spent a majority of my evening working on student reports. Every three months we have about two weeks to work on writing reports for every one of our students. This is the time of the year we English teachers hate most, for it involves working off hours, and we don't even get paid for it! Aurgh. The joys of being a teacher. XD
Anyway, this time I actually semi-enjoyed doing it, mostly because I like my kids this term. My two elementary classes drive me up the wall, and there are times when I want to strangle some of the kids, but overall I really like most of them. I have a small amount of kids this term- only 43- which makes doing student reports a heck of a lot easier, especially since I have had most of them before.
Since I had no work today I visited Home Plus with one of my co-workers. He wanted to go since he had heard they had a variety of American chips there. I wanted to go because I wanted to know where the heck Home Plus was and I didn't have anything better to do anyway. We ended up finding the place easy enough, even though the compass telling where all the stores were located in the building was only in Korean (Well, I can read Korean, but he can't, so yeah). The sign by the escalator was only in English though, which is kinda weird since everything else was only in Korean. >_<
I wound up getting some snacks for working on my student reports (Mt. Dew and potato chips-- sooo unhealthy), some candy for the kiddies since I promised them Halloween candy, and light up Badminton birdies or shuttlecocks for the lake. My mom saw some people playing with light up birdies in the park when she was out and asked me to see if i I could find some. Had a heck of a time finding them, but finally I found them at Home Plus.
Out of all of the mega stores here, I gotta say I like Home Plus the best. It's not exactly American, but it's European, namely British, which is good enough.
I did find out one strange thing upon arriving home and breaking into my food. I cannot eat potato chips any more. I ate maybe three or four and my stomach immediately started to churn. I still have a weird feeling nauseous feeling in the pit of my stomach, despite the fact that I tried to wash it down with some hot cocoa. I guess after a year and and half (maybe longer) my stomach could no longer handle chips. It's not so surprising since I feel the same way after eating Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut and chips are both incredibly oily, and I guess my stomach is not used to these oils (though strangely enough I feel fine eating McDonald's). I'm gonna have to be more careful about my food intake from now on and stay clear of oily foods...
Almost bought a PS3 today at Home Plus, but gagged when I did price comparison and saw that the American price for a PS3 was nearly 100 dollars cheaper. Korea is definitely NOT the place to buy videogame consoles. >_< (though the Wii's actually at a reasonable price...)
