general update

Looking at random pictures on facebook, I've realized my country has been kind of a stranger to me. It's weird because it's only been a year and a month since I came to South Korea and already things from home seem so...distant. I guess I've gotten too used to life in Korea. If it weren't for the loneliness I could bear living this way for maybe another year, but I'm looking forward to going home.

I'll have to admit, other than the pollution and the food, Korea is a lot more interesting than where I live in the US. Here anything interesting is just a subway train ride away, where in the US you have to drive just to get anywhere.

The other day I met with the pastor's wife. Apparently she studied Japanese in college and works as a translator. That's well and all, but her Japanese seems to be a little...outdated. But the fact that she can understand three languages is pretty impressive, even if her Japanese is outdated (she told me that 「自転車はどこですか」 was wrong and I should say 「自転車はどこにありますか」 instead. The latter is well and good, but the former is used pretty often as well). It made feel a little self-conscious at first, but in the end I figured that even though my Japanese is probably not as good as hers, at least I'm somewhat well-versed in Japanese slang and in the informal language (Fawn was daring me to speak Kansai-ben with her. XD)

I'm rewatching Kekkaishi again. I'm up to ep 45, at the most interesting arc in the series. I really wish the anime had gone further than its 52 episodes. Granted, the manga is still ongoing and it's popular enough, I guess, so there's always a chance, but who knows. The anime came out in 2008, so it seems kinda late in the game now to make another season... I guess it rides on how people felt about the first anime and how well the manga is liked.

Slowly making my way onward in Arc Rise Fantasia.... it's getting exciting again.
