Avatar, Tales of Eternia, and DNAngel. What a weird mix.

I'm feeling a lot better today. I still have my cold, of course, but my nose doesn't feel so bad now, and I haven't been coughing so much. I've been staying indoors and resting.

Saw Avatar today with Omi. We watched it together via AIM chat. The movie has been raved about for months now, and nearly everyone at my work has seen it. I've almost been forced to the movie theater three times to see it, but every time I've managed to escape. I am not really big into going to the movie theaters and the tickets here are 10, so I was pretty happy I kept "missing" my chances.

Anyway, I don't know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't as good as people told me. The movie seemed so obsessed with showing off its CG and sending its message across that it completely forgot to actually, you know, develop the characters. I couldn't relate to a single character, and I couldn't even root for any of the main characters. When people died, I didn't care. To me, those things are important, and I feel like my experience with the movie was lessened because of it. The CG WAS pretty impressive, though the Navi designs were just ugly. It probably didn't help that I got bored half way through. Long movies are long.

Was it just me, or did anyone else get a sort of Pocahontas vibe from this movie?

Also played a bit more of Tales of Eternia today. I am now at the capital of Inferia, trying to get the king to realize about the Grand Fall and help us find the location of the summon spirits. This game is growing on me a lot. I'm still a bit disappointed that it's not fully voiced, but it can't be helped, I guess. I just enjoy the voiced parts and fumble through the kanji I don't know.

So far I like all the characters in my party, even Keele, who can be kind of a bitch sometimes (actually, he's my favorite). Farah wins points for being an atypical female and having some backbone, though I do wish I had some better healing attacks. This game is even starting to make me ship Keele x Meredy, which is a couple I've always found weird since Meredy, at least to me, looks like she's fourteen. XD Buut all the Keele x Meredy moments are super cute, and adorable fanart does not help. XD

One thing that bothers me about Eternia is the TP though. It doesn't restore when I attack, it doesn't restore at healing save points, and it doesn't restore when I camp. This means I have to pay attention to my TP much more when I'm in dungeons and make sure I have enough orange and apple gels to last the dungeon. So far it hasn't been much of a problem, but who knows in the future.

Random question: Is the PSP version easier than the original PS version? I beat Undine on my first try in the PSP version, but I had a really hard time with her in the PS version. Maybe I was just under leveled or something.

Translated the latest chapter of DNAngel. This one took a little longer than the others, mainly because I got interrupted half way through by one of my friends who wanted to watch a movie. We made it through forty four minutes of Kiki's Delivery Service when he decided he was going to go. This chapter was pretty interesting, though super short. It was only sixteen pages. I'm thinking that this is how Sugisaki-sensei's chapters are going to be from now on. Well, it means less work for me, so I'm not complaining. XD

Anyway, Dai-chan has awakened and is in his school, along with Risa and Riku. He meets a boy his age named Rokuto, who is supposedly his best friend. Daisuke has no idea who he is, and Rokuto chalks it up to him having just woken up. He asks Daisuke if Daisuke will be okay in that state, as he has to be Dark later on. Daisuke freaks out that he knows about Dark, but Rokuto says that they are best buds, and that he will keep their promise. (There are more important things you should be worrying about, Dai-chan). Anyway. Riku wakes up and tries to wake Risa up, but she won't get up. Riku keeps urging her, saying how they promised their mom they'd be home early, but Risa is still asleep. She finally gives up and piggy backs Risa out the classroom, stopping to say bye to Daisuke.

Daisuke waves back and Rokuto jumps on him, telling him not to get too ahead of him. Apparently Rokuto likes Riku too, and they're competing for her. Daisuke says that they are pretty much dating already, but Rokuto won't hear it. He calls Daisuke "delusional" and tells Daisuke that he's going to invite Riku to the dance (I'm assuming he's talking about the dance mentioned in the previous chapter). Rokuto says that they're tied, though he thinks Riku might like him better. The chapter ends with Daisuke kind of freaking out over the fact that Rokuto says he's being delusional.

Again. Dai-chan, there are other things you should be worried about. Like, who is this Rokuto guy? Why is everyone so tired? And what exactly is going on?
But I'm assuming Daisuke is under some kind of spell himself. I swear, the boy is a magnet for it.

We haven't seen Satoshi yet, but since he, too, got dragged into the mirror he's probably around there somewhere. I'm assuming he's unaffected by the spell (being cool and all that) and is trying to figure out where Daisuke and the girls are and trying to get them all out of this mess.

I'm only hoping for two things with this arc, Sugisaki: More Satoshi x Risa and more Krad. That's all I ask for. If you promise to give me this, I'll forgive you for starting another predictable, been there done that arc. That is all. Thank you. XD

The scanlation should be up sometime soon. I just have to wait to hear back from my editor and then we're set to go. I feel kinda proud to have released three consecutive chapters without any major translation problems. And I love Rokuto's slang. It's super easy to translate, and easy to find an English equivalent since it's not too different from standard Japanese.

Tomorrow is my first test in Korean, and I haven't even studied. I am so gonna fail. XD
