So today we went to Yeongsan. All to be honest, I didn't really want to go this early since I haven't really been paid yet, but I had received my advance pay and had 2,000 USD for just in case, so I felt a little better about making the trip. Not only that, Charles was free that weekend and offered to take me there. So I went. The ride there was about an hour. Yeongsan is in Seoul, while we live in Incheon. There is a huge mall right off the subway from Yeongsan which has pretty much everything. It's like a giant flea market. Each level is devoted to a different thing. One floor is for clothing, one for furniture, and etc. Floor 7 is for videogames and furniture. There were video games. There were lots of videogames.
Each booth had an assortment of games. All booths sold DSs and PSPs. They have some nice colors for the PSP in Asia, by the way. Too bad for them I wasn't in the market for a new PSP or DS, and the DSi were wayyyy too expensive (I didn't actually see any DSi, but they guy said they had some). I surfed the PSP sections of each bin and found a Korean copy of Tales of Symphonia. The man came up to me and I asked him if he had any PSP Tales games. I emphasized that I was looking for Destiny 2 or Eternia. He came back with Radiant Mythology 1. Not quite what I wanted, but I was glad we were on the same page. I said Destiny 2 again and he asked the guy across from him who happened to have a copy. He gave the copy to me. I was a little reluctant because the instructions were all in Korean. I asked him if he had any "ilbon language" games (Japanese language) and he said that the game itself was in Japanese. Only the box and menu were in Korean.
So...first purchase of the day

Tales of Destiny 2, 35,000 won ($32)
The guy gave me a card and said さようなら to me in Japanese and chuckled. I replied さようなら back and left.
Then while I was searching another PSP rack I snagged a copy of this:

Tales of Eternia, 23,000 won ($20)
Eternia is completely in Japanese, which makes me happy.
And then on the way out I saw this:

Tales of VS, 45,000 won ($42)
I wasn't planning on buying this much, but the games were hard enough to find and I wasn't sure how soon I'd come back to Yeongsan, especially since they have so many VGs.
If you're in the market for R4s Yeongsan is a good place to go. Charles bought a DS, and with it came an R4 loaded with a bunch of games in Korean, Japanese, and English. Boy's got 25 games to keep him busy now. I was tempted to get one, or at least a bigger memory card for my PSP, but I felt I had spent enough money and decided to leave. I did find out that I could bargain, which made me a little irked, but my purchases were cheap enough that I didn't feel bad paying "full price".
The worst thing was the PS2 special edition copy of Tales of Destiny....for the Korean PS2. So painful, but I had spent enough money on normal Tales games and the lack of a region free PS2 held me back. I MIGHT get it if I go back and it's cheap, but until then I'll be happy with the Tales games I have.
But now I'm not allowed to buy anything but food and garbage bags until I get paid... I really can't afford to spend waste any more money.
And now off to watch Vampire Diaries...
