Shadow Hearts

Exam day #1. I spent the majority of the day listening to a CD that my teacher burned for us and trying to translate random Turkish/Arabic/Portuguese words. By the way, I have discovered that my listening skills SUCK. But it's not just foreign languages! I can think of many occasions where I was at work and someone spouted off a sentence in English at me that I did not understand at all. I just stared at them blankly. It was like my mind wouldn't even bother to figure out what they were saying. And English is my native tongue... どうしようかな、私。。。

I played a little more of Shadow Hearts today. I forgot that it's very difficult to actually lose a battle in that game. I think I lost a battle once, and that was only because the chick kept poisoning me. X_X As long as they don't mess up your rings and your sanity is okay, it's really hard to lose. I fought Roger Bacon Albert Simon who turned into Amon today. It was really irritating because he has this move that takes away your sanity points. Yuri needs so many sanity points to transform and I couldn't replenish his sanity enough to make him be able to transform, meaning he was Yuri the whole battle. It's not a BAD thing, but it definitely made me nervous.

My normal Shadow Hearts team consists of Alice, Yuri, and Keith. Alice because she's a kick butt healer (and now she has a healing move that recovers everyone's healthy completely. Awesome!), Yuri because he is the main character and a decent fighter, and Keith because he amuses me and has a nice blood sucking move that both heals him and hurts the enemy. Kind of like Pokemon's leech seed.

Halley is actually pretty good too if you use his elements, but when it comes to battles I'm not really big into mages... But I had to use him once and he was actually doing better than Yuri... weird.

Unfortunately, I think I'm too late to save Alice. It was really depressing since Koudelka was telling Alice that she had Yuri to take care of her now. I kept thinking, "I'm sorry, Alice and Yuri. I'm so, so sorry". Well, he DOES get back with her in the end. Sorta...

Anyway, it seems I have one more dungeon to beat and a few more boss fights and then I'm done. How depressing! I haven't even got 30 hours into the game yet... ;-;
Despite that, I really enjoyed Shadow Hearts. I LOVE Alice to death, which is rare for me since usually I wind up disliking or not caring about female videogames characters. >_<
(Poor Marguerite deserves better from me. Probably)

I think I'll probably end up restarting my game after I beat it and trying to get the good ending... Alice deserves that much.

But I'll probably focus more on beating Shadow Hearts 2.

You know, I still haven't figured out why IGN is so down on Shadow Hearts. (Seriously, a 5.5!? SH3 got a better score!) Sure, there a few annoying things about it (sanity points, the malice), but overall I really am enjoying Shadow Hearts. The characters are really amusing and the battle style is a lot better than the typical turn base. Although it can be a little irritating if you are feeling lazy. The battles DO tend to drag on sometimes, but I think that's mostly because I know I have a high chance of winning, so I am anticipating the enemy falling to the ground.
And then there's the whole point and click map. A lot of people didn't like that, but I found it refreshing to just point and click where I wanted to go instead of wandering forever on a dull world map. (I dunno if a world map would even fit Shadow Hearts...)

Anyway, Shadow Hearts is awesome. Despite what people say. >_<

Gonna go see the baby tomorrow, I think.
