Here is the other tutorial that
bandcat had asked for. (sorry it's a little late but I didn't feel too good last night when I intended to make this tutorial.) This is what we will be making:
1) Open a document and fill with black. I usually choose 1920x1080 for my wallpapers since that is the resolution of my desktop.
2) Choose two pics of your chosen character and cut and resize them. Place where you believe it would look best.
3) Take
this texture and resize it to fit your canvas. Place behind your two pics and set it to Normal, 40%.
4) Then take these two PNG's (
1 and
2) and place them on your wallpaper. Since these are both behind your pics, duplicate the ruined building and place each one on either side of your large pic. For the kitty, resize and place on one of the ledges of your ruined building.
5) Take
this small texture and place it along side the left side of your wallpaper still making sure that you have placed this underneath your two character pics. Set to Screen, 100% and erase the edges and anything else you do not like.
6) Add these
Leaves on both the right side and left side of the canvas. Do not resize and make sure they are underneath your two character pics but above everything else.
7) Add
this clock PNG and place it to the left of your smaller pic, make sure that it's above your two character pics. Set to Hard Light, 38%.
8) Take
this texture and
PNG and place them on top of the clock and smaller pic of your character. Set the texture to Screen, 100% and leave the PNG as is.
9) Take
this texture and place it in the upper right hand side of your wallpaper. Set to Screen, 100% and erase whatever your don't like.
10) Duplicate the texture from step 3 and bring it to the front. Set this one to Screen, 100% and erase in front of your large character pic. Then take
this texture and place it in between your large pic and the ruined building. Set to Screen, 100% and erase anything you don't like.
11) Add another pic of your character and place it off center and to the left. Cut out.
12) Add
this rose onto the right side of the new character pic, leave as is.
13) Open the texture from step 3 and paste it into the wallpaper. Place it above the middle sized character pic and set it to Screen, 100%.. Erase the edges. NOTE: DO NOT RESIZE THIS LAYER.
14) Take a screencap of your character doing something you think is heroic or just plain awesome and make sure it fits the full size of your wallpaper. Motion Blur, Angle 58 degrees with a distance of 581 pixels. Set this to Screen, 100%.
15) COLORING:
PSD. Note: Some of these layers may undo some things but I'm not going to go through with the coloring but I have left a PSD for you to download. There is an extra duplicated texture of the rose that I moved into because I didn't like how it looked after some of the coloring.
16) Add your finishing touches and text: I used the Avengence Heroic Avenger and AvantGarde BK BT for my text. 72 pt and 36 pt respectively.
17) Add a watermark, if you do, and you are finished!
