WTF do you mean 'I MIGHT lose my table?'
It is one week before Otakuthon. Less, actually. You do NOT tell someone on the volunteer staff that they MIGHT lose their table after paying for a FULL TABLE for a FULL WEEKEND just because I am on staff! D= To my defense, I knew something like this would probably happen (Murphy's Law and all) hence why I got seat monkeys for said table.....so we could have a full weekend coverage that a one day show won't be able to do in terms of sales and such and also for the fact that I could avoid this sort of drama.
On another note...I know that I am important. I am an old piece from the first year of this convention....however, my powers cannot be used outside the masquerade event....but it is because I am a volunteer and it's going to stay that way as long as I am happy enough staying like that. Because of being promoted to staff level (again, I might add) I am going to be busy all day long without much respite and am not allowed to do other things that I might actually want to do. I've only ever been to one convention where I wasn't staff and even then I was a volunteer for a workshop! D=
*head desk* I guess I'm just bitching right now, but sheesh, people...if it isn't in the policy, it WILL be exploited. It never said in any of the con policies about any staff members not having an artist alley table. I won't say they're lucky I'm coming back for Otakuthon's third year...however, I am highly displeased. I think for next year I might just turn down being a volunteer altogether just so I can enjoy the convention in MY HOME CITY for once. D= I want it to succeed, but....I honestly think we're moving too fast....should have booked a hotel first or something...not the frickin' convention center! Can we even afford to give volunteers back their reimboursements?
I am so...graaah....unhappy...Hopefully the more calm e-mail I sent should clear things up. I had already told the alley director that I was in the masquerade and that I had helpers for Saturday when that happens. So blah! XP
