You know there are times when I just HATE working at the post office...mainly because I end up getting the most temperamental customers who want me fired the minute I make a mistake. They probably have the right, but I bet if someone got pissed at them and wanted THEM fired I bet THEY wouldn't feel so hot

Oh sweetie ;_; I know exactly how you feel. Truth is, when working with the public, out of every 50 people you meet, there will be one douchebag and that ONE douchebag makes life difficult for all of us and refuses to understand that despite the fact that we ARE working for him/her because he/she is a client, that we are NOT robots and that we AS HUMAN BEINGS make MISTAKES(god forbid eh?). They always act like they can do the job so much better! >:
I actually had one just yesterday as I was scanning her almands, she insisted that I had punched in the wrong code. As it turns out, I had indeed punched in the more expensive version of what she was buying but the truth is all almands look exactly the same and even after the error was corrected, she HAD to call the manager and bitch and claim that she was supposed to get her almands for FREE because apparently other grocery stores have that policy or wtv. ARGH. Totally know what you're going through.
Just remember though, every worker has to deal with these people, and they are probably awful to workers in general. Your boss will understand that this person is just being a bitch/asshole and blowing your mistake way out of proportion. Don't beat yourself up over it.
Your boss, unlike you, will remember the positive things as well as the negative and there's no use in being self-deprecating for one teeny tiny slip up.
