what were you reading on argentina? if it was a primary document I would love to have a link.

The most interesting thing I find of 2001 in argentina is the tactics used by different social classes. The fact that the praxis of middle class argentinians was to recreate a capitalist market through their "barter" markets - even going so far as to print their own underground currency - where as the general proletarian praxis was a revival of syndicalist goals, many of which were successful. The unemployed anarchist movement (peqiclaros - or something like that?) that blocked traffic were marvously unimpressive however.

i think that Marx was wrong in that the more repressed the working class is the more aware of their situation they will be. today, the capitalism and the state of our society has proven to isolate and divides people incredibly, to the point that no 19th century marxist could ever forsee. part of me also wonders if somehow peoples conception of the working class needs to move beyond the the old marxist conceptions of the past, especially as the economics of our society (and others) is drastically changing.

it is certainly necessary. we have moved out of a industrial capital society into that of a finance capital society which has allowed for a greater stratification of socioeconomic classes than what any orthodox marxist would have expected: that the capitalist class will monopolize there way into an inevitable nonexistence. maybe i don't know enough about economics and polisci but the interdependent relationships between country economies seems to call for a better praxis than "workers of the world uniting". internationalism between a worker in america and one in an industry-centric state seems like it would be ridden with contradictions.

oopsie, you can tell it's right before bedtime for me- the response I just posted below this is for my dear wellihavemine.........but as fer youuuuu:

"the interdependent relationships between country economies seems to call for a better praxis than "workers of the world uniting". internationalism between a worker in america and one in an industry-centric state seems like it would be ridden with contradictions."...I basically agree, but this is just why I'm looking for insight into what is fundamental between these seemingly disparate types of worker......something at the ontological level of the condition??.....

i'm most certainly in the dark too.

To a degree i think that's why we see a new emphasis on labor alienation which spans the borders between blue and white collar work. The idea is a little abstract for me to want to use it as the crux of argument with peers though. Deep down I want to say that we won't see an evolution away from late capitalism until we see industrial capitalist states resynthesize as something new (be it late capitalist or communist or something else). But that's coming from me, a person who thinks it is hilarious to call himself an anarcho-cynicalist.

but then again, you do have good ol' paris of '68. but is there realistically anyway to control and direct the antipathy towards alienated labor? is it inevitably a sponatenous expression?
