Kento Yamazaki says "It felt like I went home," Will the Kiss Lead To Marriage?! Back to Noto on Asadora "Mare"
Actress Tao Tsuchiya plays the role of the heroine who aims to become the best patissier in the world on the NHK Drama series "Mare." Briefly after finally starting her training as a patissier in Yokohama, there have been a surge of development in the story including her problem with the Christmas cake, the disturbing "kiss", the love triangle in Noto, the talk about marriage etc. We did the interview at the saltpan in Suzu, Ishikawa Prefecture. Here are some photos and comments from Tsuchiya, Kento Yamazaki (who plays the role of her childhood friend), Mugi Kadowaki and other amazing cast of characters.
This story tells about a young girl Mare Tsumura (played by Tsuchiya), who moved with her family to Noto in Ishikawa Prefecture and aspires to become the best patisserie in the world by training hard, and her warm interaction with the people around her. From the 7th week of broadcast (May 11th), Mare started her life in Yokohama and finally heading towards her dream of becoming a patissier. She then started her one month training with Daigo Ikehata, the moody and eccentric owner of a French pastry shop called Ma Chérie Chouchou.
She personally spent time with Ikehata's wife, Rinko (Ryo) and son Daisuke (Yuya Yagira), but the she failed on her training. At that time, she got a notice about the divorce of her parents, Toru (Yo Oizumi) and Aiko (Takako Tokiwa) so she immediately went back to Noto, and there awaits her blazing love triangle relationship with her childhood friends Keita (Yamazaki) and Ichiko (Fumika Shimizu).
Moreover, her younger brother Ittetsu announced about his sudden marriage! His fiancée was Mare's childhood friend, Minori (Kadowaki).
In addition to her parents' divorce, Noto will once again become troubled with Ichiko's anger towards Keita, the discovery of Ittetsu and Minori's relationship and their immediate marriage announcement, and the "kiss" that Mare got from Daisuke from Yokohama.
After filming in Tokyo studio, Tsuchiya made a delightful comment about going back to have filming in Noto after a long time, "My heart is filled with longing and peace of mind." Yamazaki also added, "Rather than saying 'I came to Noto for the filming,' It felt like 'I'm back home in Noto."
Mare once again saw the warmth of Noto people that doesn't neglect other people's dreams, but what kind of decision will she make after her complicated dream and her love life? We give you some points that we gathered about the development of the story.

* It felt like I'm home when I came back to Noto. I've been gradually coming to Noto for public filming and the likes before, but it has been a while since I visited this place for the location filming of Mare. My heart is filled with nostalgia and peace of mind. Our filming site feels like they're my real family, so I want to enliven the character of Mare on the second half of the drama.
Yo Oizumi (as Toru Tsumura)
* I came back to Noto after a long time, and when the hotel staff who usually assisted us welcomed us again, I told them "I'm home." They say Noto is a place of kindness, and I really felt that kindness. Although I'm relatively a man who brings rainy weather, this time, the weather is great so I feel good while we are filming.
Takako Tokiwa (as Aiko Tsumura)
* When we filmed Mare in the location before it was being broadcast on TV, nobody knew what kind of drama was it all about. But now that they are familiar with our roles in the drama, many people from Noto welcomed me by calling me "Aiko-san!" or "Mare's mother!" and it makes me really happy.
Shono Hayama (as Ittetsu Tsumura)
* I came back to Noto after a long while, and I was able to eat delicious food so I can really do my best. When I came back here, more people have been calling me Ittetsu now. The other day, somebody told me, "Toru has never been hardworking, so please work hard Ittetsu," so I thought I should work hard as Ittetsu.
Kento Yamazaki (as Keita Kontani)
*Rather than saying "I came back in Noto for the filming,", I feel like saying "I came home in Noto." We arrived in our filming location at this timing so I will definitely internalize our experiences here in Noto as we start the second half of our filming.
Mugi Kadowaki (as Minori Teraoka)
*I thought that this place is really wonderful since we first came here in October 2010, yet I think it is still amazing now that we came back with its beautiful scenery and delicious food. We do not have a very tight schedule for this filming location so everyday feels refreshing.
Yuta Takahata (as Yoichiro Kado)
*When I came back in Noto, I thought, "I'm home." I was able to feel a fresh atmosphere that we couldn't feel at the NHK studio, and we have been looking forward to the location filming because the sea is beautiful, the nature is also wonderful and the food are extremely delicious.
Min Tanaka (as Ganji Okesaku)
*I'm the master of this place's saltpan. I'd been to Noto since the very cold February. I'm living in the mountain area, so I'm glad to have this irreplaceable experience of breathing with the various scent of the sea and stepping on the sandy soil. I'm very happy about everything.
Yuko Tanaka (as Fumi Okesaku)
*The opening song of Mare is always being played in Wajima Port at 7:00 in the morning. Well, I still want to sleep now though. Everyone wakes up early. I fell asleep while listening to the song and thinking about the people of Noto who really supports us.
