[The realization that he was in the elevator came when the doors opened and bright light poured into the small cubical. A soft hum brought him out of the hypnotic trance of his own heartbeat. The hum, it beckoned him to step past those two doors and into the lobby. His gasp enough to make his knees wobble and he brought his small hands to his chest, one over the other and pressing as if to keep his throbbing heart from breaking through his body.
Focusing was proving to be otiose for there was the memory of light blinding his sight. His palm pressing into his chest so hard, as if he was pushing back what he was imagining was struck through him like a pin cushion.
The arrow was shot at his back, and light surrounded him. He was dead, his soul was relocated to... Heaven... maybe Hell. Maybe even back to the Digital world. The logic behind these alternatives was sound, though the denial for either of those ultimatums was tearing past his reasoning.
Yamato slowly let loose his breath, if he were dead he wouldn't need to breath. Nor would his heart pound so hard in his chest. He rationalized to a calmer disposition, each subconscious step he took toward the smiling face of a stranger.
Human.
The sight finally began to bring him from his latest memories, from his fears and the darkness behind his cruel self loath for an immediate conclusion. Failure. He failed everyone and ended up being struck from his home and fell into this unfamiliar place. Perhaps limbo.
He swallowed back his cry and reached the desk, finding the items awaiting him. A few words from the person behind the counter, though he wasn't too alert to their voice. Just knew that they were there... coaxing him with their tone. Yamato hugged the things to his chest and started to eye around the lobby. More light, coming from outside, and he headed for the door. The scent of the air finally tagged by his recognition for it. He was near the ocean.]
G...a..
[Noting that not even his digimon joined him here. Let alone his friends, or family.]
