Chapter 8: Dazed and Confused

“Kame! What happened to you?” asked Yamapi as he looked at the bruises on Kame’s face.

“I-it’s nothing. I just fell down. That’s all.”

“Don’t lie to me. I’ve fallen down so many times and I know it doesn’t do that to your face. Now, tell me.”

Kame sighed. “It was J-Jin. Jin did this to me. He hit me because anger and jealousy took him over.”

Yamapi gasped in shock. “How can he do this to you? You wanna know what I think? I think you should just break up with him. He’s abusive!”

“But I don’t want to. I love him.”

“You love him?! How can you love someone who treats you this way?! He probably doesn’t even love you back! I’ve seen him Kame. I’ve seen him going around the school and fooling with everyone’s feelings,” Yamapi shouted angrily.

“How can you say those stuff about him?! You don’t even know him! You clearly have been listening to too much gossip. I thought you were my friend. I thought you’d understand. Instead of criticizing my boyfriend, aren’t you supposed to comfort me and tell me everything’s going to be alright?!” Kame shouted back.

Pi was taken aback. He didn’t expect Kame to burst out like that. “I-I’m sorry. I care for you a lot Kame and I’m…I’m…”

“You’re what?!” Kame was still clearly fumed with anger.

“I’m…I’m in love with you!”

“E-eh?”

Kame was shocked. He’s now more confused than angry.

“I…I love you. I always have been. Since the first time I saw you. I’ll be a better boyfriend for you than Jin! I’ll love you and I would never hurt you.”

“So that’s it, huh? You say all those bad things about Jin because you want me? Because you ‘love me’? You say you would never hurt me but you just did. And you know what? It’s even more painful than these bruises. You’re disgraceful.”

And with that, Kame turned around and walked off, leaving a wounded Yamapi behind.

-------

“Pi, don’t cry. I’m sure he didn’t mean those things he said to you.”

After the incident with Kame, Yamapi ran straight to Toma and poured his heart out.

And since then, Toma has been trying to comfort him and stop him from crying.

“B-but…he…and then…” Yamapi was sobbing so hard that he couldn’t even finish his sentence properly.

Toma sighed. “Shh, its okay, I’m here. You know what? Just continue on crying. Let it all out.” Toma patted Yamapi and cradled him in his arms.

Hearing Toma’s soothing words, Pi shed even more tears and left a huge wet patch on his on the shoulder of his t-shirt.

30 minutes later

“I-I’m sorry. Your t-shirt is all wet now.”

“It’s okay. I can change. You feel better now?”

Yamapi nodded.

“Good.” Toma got up and went to his bedroom to change into a new fresh t-shirt.

He came back to the living room and sat beside Yamapi on the floor; back against the couch.

“Ne, Toma.”

“Hm?”

“Thank you.”

“What are you thanking me for? We’re friends! We’re supposed to comfort each other,” Toma said, flashing a smile at Yamapi.

Pi returned it with a small smile. “It’s just that, you’ve been helping me out so much, and I’ve done nothing for you.”

“You don’t need to do anything for me.”

“But it’s not fair right? I have to do something!”

“No you don’t Pi.”

“Yes I do! And I insist!”

Toma sighed. He knew he wouldn’t win this fight. He got up and held out his hand for Yamapi to grab.

“Then, come on.”

“Eh? Where are we going?” asked Yamapi grabbing Toma’s hand anyway.

“WE are going to a bar. And WE are going to get drunk and YOU need to clear your head.”

Yamapi didn’t argue and just followed Toma towards his car.

-------

Once they were at the bar, they ordered a couple of beers and stayed silent. It wasn’t an uncomfortable silence. They didn’t need to fill it with words or laughter, because they were comfortable with the other’s presence.

After the bartender had gave them the beer, Yamapi took a sip and broke the silence.

“Ne, Toma. Do you think I should just give up?”

“Hm? Give up what?”

“Give up on Kame.”

“You’re supposed to clear your head, not fill it up with him.”

“I know, I know. I just wanted your opinion.” Yamapi said sadly.

Toma sighed. He wanted to say yes, but being the good friend he is, he said: “No, Yamapi. I don’t think you should give up. No matter what other people say, no matter if he has a boyfriend or not, if you keep on waiting, I’m sure he’ll come around. Be strong.”

During the whole speech, Toma didn’t dare to look Yamapi in the eyes, he just stared at the wine rack in front of him.

“Wow. It’s like you’re experienced.”

Toma smirked to himself. “Yeah, experienced,” he whispered.

They sat in silence again, sipping on their beers until Toma heard a small weeping sound. He looked beside him and saw Yamapi sobbing. Again.

“Oh God, Pi. Why are you crying? Stop it. We’re in public remember?” Toma said as he stroked Pi’s back.

“I-I’m sorry. I-It’s nothing, I’ll stop now.” He wiped the tears with the back of his hand and gave Toma a small smile but avoiding his eyes.

“Pi, look at me. Are you really okay?”

Yamapi said nothing. He looked up and just stared at Toma.

The intense stare made Toma uncomfortable. “P-Pi? W-why are you staring at me like that? You’re creeping me out.”

“I never noticed it before. You have really pretty eyes, and your skin looks so smooth.” Yamapi raised his hand and stroked Toma’s cheek.

The touch made Toma shiver. “Are you drunk?”

Pi didn’t reply and continued to stroke Toma’s cheek.

Toma looked over at Yamapi’s cup and it was only half empty. Yamapi couldn’t be drunk; it usually took him at least 2 cups before he would laugh uncontrollably.

Yamapi broke Toma’s taught when he suddenly cupped his hands around Toma’s face and crushed his lips onto his. He didn’t know what got into him. Toma just looked really beautiful in the dim light, and suddenly his body was acting without any thought. He knew he wasn’t drunk, and he was confused at what’s he doing. But somehow, just somehow, this kiss felt so…right. It’s like he belonged there but he was in love with Kame right? He wasn’t in love with Toma…right? He seemed to brush off that thought and continued to kiss him.

Toma, on the other hand, was shocked. He can’t believe Yamapi’s doing this. He was upset and didn’t enjoy it at all even though it felt good. Really good. Before he could melt any further into the kiss, he pushed Yamapi away from him and looked at him with hurtful eyes.

“I can’t believe you.”

Toma got up and ran away. He ran as fast as he could into the cold dark night while Yamapi just sat there, staring at the spot where his best friend was.

***

I’m so sorry this chapter took so long to update! I’ve been busy with exams at school and haven’t been able to write. Gomen~! This chapter was a bit rushed so it might not be so good. I think the ending might be coming soon in the next 3-4 chapters. After this, I don’t think I want to write a multi-chapter anymore, but I will keep on writing one-shots or two-shots. xD Anyways, hope you enjoyed it~ :)

Comments and critics are, of course, loved! ;D
