things that have kept me occupied since my last update:
2 men going at it: the australian open
amazing. i pretty much watched all the men's matches (i mean, women's tennis? really?) and perved on everyone aha. Marat Safin needs to be topless moar pls. Roddick is one of my new boys; he has my favourite serve to date and therefore worthy of being put in my LJ interests along with Federer's backhand (which has been in the list for awhile!). these boys are beautiful, sigh.
- i am heaps bummed that Djokovic had to quit due to fatigue/heatstroke/whatev; he was the reigning champ! that must have hurt a lot.
- the semi-finals between Nadal and Verdasco were so awesome. 2 leftie Spaniards playing for OVER 5 HOURS, GUYS. i was up watching them, and they just kept going!! it was like they weren't tired or anything; no sloppy tennis, here. wow.
- Nadal vs. Federer final, a bit disappointing. wtf Roger D: but his crying and disappointment and choking up during his speech was adorable and heartwrenching (
link). we love you, bb. ♥ even if you didn't win.
1 man getting the job done: gran torino
Clint Eastwood is badass, you all know it. this movie was great because although he was so racist he was so funny. anyone else saying half those lines i would have been disgusted but because it was Clint it was alllll gooooood. also he is a babe. COME ON, YOU CAN'T DISAGREE WITH THAT SEXY VOICE. even if he's old enough to be my grandpa, i'd hit that.
i liked that most of the other cast were unknowns. and the other main character, this kid, i later find out is like... 16. wtf!? he has a moustache and everything, geez, ttlly surprised me. moving on.
1 man starting something big: milk
this movie was brilliant, i really loved it. Sean Penn is an amazing actor, really believable as Harvey Milk. he was so warm. and it must be said that James Franco is so sexy, even with a pornstache. he has a lovely smile. *swoons* also Emilie Hirsch as a skinny young trick with massive glasses? hilarious. as was everyone else's beards.
BUT YEAH. i was really impressed with whoever directed/shot this movie; there were some interesting angles and a couple of scenes where the entire thing was filmed reflections -- the reflection in a mirror, a spoon (i think it was?). so yes, very cool.

enough rambling.
i guess this entry is really to stop myself from thinking about the raging fires here which have claimed 181 lives (and climbing). :/ idk, idk. denial, ignorance, anything. please.
