Please tell us what you felt when it was decided that you will be appearing in the Taiga drama "Seiten wo Tsuke".
This time, I took an audition around February last year. I was surprised when I got the decision to appear last October, because I somehow forgotten about it. I am still in junior high school when I also appeared in "Hana Moyu" ( a Taiga drama aired in 2015) and now I am already 19 years old.... I am very glad and will cherish the experience of being in a Taiga drama twice during my teenage years.
How would you like to play Tokugawa Akitake this time?
Tokugawa Akitake went to Paris when he was young, carrying the whole country on his back, and I think it was an important role because of the responsibility he had. However, I think that he had the dignity and charisma that Yoshinobu (Akitake's half brother) can depend on him. I would like to express that part in acting.
Please tell us your impression about Yoshizawa-san who is playing the lead role.
Of course, I have seen various works of Yoshizawa-san up until now, but the first thing I actually thought when I met him was his eyes were really beautiful! When we act together, sometimes his eyes shines like a young boy that sees the world for the first time, or its like a hawk with sharp gazes which is giving me encouragement.
It was also one time that I have a filming on a morning information program, he said "It is early in the morning right? are you okay?", when I talked about how I love wearing peculiar clothes, he asked "Did you wear peculiar clothes today?" and we had such conversations like that (laughs).
It is Prince Tokugawa you were playing this time, but do you have a Prince-like to yourself?
Not at all! (laughs). I don't have anything Prince-like,I am the opposite (laugh)
Honestly, what do you think when you wear the costume for the drama and look yourself in the mirror?
I did feel I look good in them (laugh). I have only worn a yukata since I have yet to experience the coming of age ceremony. This time there is also a hakama, and a high ranking attire during the scene of Napoleon III. Because I have to repeatedly tightening the costume a number of times, whenever my body tightens, I felt a warm feeling in my heart.
It is almost half of the year, but how was 2021 so far?
I am continuing to take various challenges from last year until the first half of this year. It is the drama "Colorful Love ~ Genderless Danshi ni Aisareteimasu~" and with the Taiga drama "Seiten wo Tsuke" this time. I think this will be a good year. I want to prepare because I will be turning 20 years old next year.

What is your favourite breakfast menu?
Bread. The bread that I especially like is, croissants that looks like ears which are small and crunchy.
What emojis do you often use?
I used them quite a lot, the emojis. Hmmm... "the kneeling-down" (🙇♂️) and "the hands that is asking favour" (🙏). Also, the smiling face emoji which the eyes are closing and looks like へ (😄).
What is the theme for your next illustration?
I cannot say it yet.... but please check them out in my column series in CanCam! (laugh)
What is the most calming place in your house?
Sofa. I don't really like leather sofa which is cold when I sit down. For me, it is very important whether if I can sleep on it or not, that's why I like sofa's made of cloth.
What is your favourite ice cream flavour?
Green tea or salt.
What do you want to be called by your lover?
I don't mind anything! Please just call me with anything you like (laugh)
What is your average bath (shower) time?
It's brief, 10 minutes. I feel like there is no benefit to sweating when lying in the bath, so I don't do bath (laugh) That is my personal opinion!
What is your favourite animal?
Dog. I have toy poodle at my parents' house.
What is your smartphone's lock screen?
My bias! (laugh) I change it once every six months.
What is your motivation to keep working hard?
I cannot be thankful enough that I am doing the work that I like, which is more than I can ask for. I think it is very comforting. Of course there are difficult and painful things when it comes to acting, but I think it is the true charm of it, it's fun even if its hard.
