OKAY. I was filling this out uber fast because I had to rush off an do something, and I feel silly that I only listed THG up there (even though it's an amazing fucking series!) well and Howl's, which is also amazing!

So here is some other YA I adore:

The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
The Enchanted Forest Chronicles (probably more Children's lit, but idc) by Patricia C. Wrede
The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner
Harry Potter (books 1-4) by J.K. Rowling
Ratha's Creature by Clare Bell
Blood and Chocolate by Annette Curtis Klause

Only books 1-4? Que interesante. I agree that I prefer 2-5 to the rest of the series, but I'm always interested to hear people's Harry Potter ~opinions~.

Books 5-7 took a giant flush down the proverbial crapper, for me. Five was too much Harry angst, 6 was a bit of a blur for me, and 7... oh book 7. That one causes me to see red and my head to start spinning. The more time passes the more angry I become at book 7 and all that it is.

I'm a bit of an abnormal HP fan, though. I started with the films, and didn't start reading till I had seen the first 3. After that I wouldn't read book 4 till I saw the film (as I know I'm a person who will NOT enjoy a movie if I have previously read the book). After movie 4, however, I decided to just power through and read the remaining books pre-film debuts. An odd thing occurred. I actually like the 5th movie, as I thought they got the emo!Harry over and done with, and I found it more enjoyable than the book. Movie 6 is another story. I Absolutely HATE that film. As I said, the book is still a blur to me. I can remember parts crystal clear, like the end of it (the drinking of the foul liquid, the incident after at the school and the battle), but the rest is lost to me. HOWEVER, I remember enough that when I watch the 6th film I just keep shouting "THAT'S WRONG! STOP RUNNING IN CORN FIELDS AND BURNING THE BURROW!!"

As for part one of movie 7, I actually enjoyed it. But, the parts of the book that make me the most angry happen mostly in the next one, so we shall see how I feel about it. (please gods above and below don't let them film the epilogue!)

So, I really love the first 4 books, with Prisoner of Azkaban being my favorite.
