how did your interview go? my tour went really well, i guess it's safe to say that u-m's moved to the top of my college list!

really? that's how i felt. i mean, grand valley REALLY impressed me, but U-M just.. fits me and what i'm looking for better, you know? what changed YOUR mind?

(oh, it went GREAT! the lady said in the letter to only expect about 1.5 hours with her but she liked me and my stuff so much that we spent 3 hours AND she gave us a great recommendation for where to eat in the city. i feel so reassured now... only because the portfolio review is so subjective, and now i know what to keep and what to continue doing. VERY helpful!)

well, it felt like grand valley with all the technological advances and such (i.e. wireless internet, ppt notes online), but it'd be nice to go to a research university, especially since i'm looking into engineering.

but michigan's a really good engineering school, and i like the idea of possibly enrolling in the engineering and music school for something like sound engineering.

and you CAN'T go wrong with big ten. we'd be going to school during chad henne and michael hart's last couple years! :P

it's sounds like the interview went quite well for you! awesome!!

yeah it did! i'm very encouraged, at least.

you're right. my first impression of gvsu was "woah, this place is amazing!"
then i went to U-M and it put things in perspective for me, just how much better all-around the school is for someone like me who is really self-motivated. the other thing is, at gv nothing felt very.. you know... rigorous. i'm not saying i want to be worked to the bone but... i really want some place that will challenge/stimulate me. (believe you me.. i love my leisure time, but i get restless for activity even during summer vacation.)

plus, i've been to ann arbor 3 times already and i love it! just like lansing, its a great college town.

oh and, come on... big ten.

so are you applying mid-august?

i'm applying just after school starts, hopefully. apparently they're requiring letters of recommendation from our counselor and one teacher? at least i'm pretty sure they said that at the tour thing i went to...but yes, applying as soon as possible is going to be essential.

i haven't seen the new essays yet (the new application came out monday and i just got back from band camp), but if they're the same as last year's, i still have to work on two of them, cuz i did the common apps questions for eaton's college project...

from the looks of things, they are exactly the same as last year's essays, so get going!
