Bonnaroo.
Yeah.
Dirt. Heat. Hippies. Rednecks. Suuuuuuun.
It was an adventure.
We did not camp. The assholes beside us took up our camping space. So we slept in the car. Too hot. 8 am was as late as you could sleep unless you don't mind sweat pouring off of you while you dream.
The music was amazing.
Lucero was drunk off their asses but kicking it hard. Ben promised to play Chain Link Fence in Atlanta on Tuesday. Ben Folds was fucking fantastic. Best show I saw all weekend. Totally blew everyone out of water. Bitches Ain't Shit singalong version. Fucking great. Took a nap in the grass during Bright Eyes. They play such great sleeping music. Death Cab was solid. Left nothing to be desired. Steel Train fucking rocked hardcore (twice!). So amazing. Great Great Great. Demitri Martin's comedy was amazing. As were all the other openers. Radiohead was an experience. 70,000+ were at the festival. I guarantee you at least half of those people were sitting on the grass watching these guys. Very surreal to see Thom Yorke bopping around/dancing onstage and then see thousands of other people watching him do the same thing on the huge video screens to either side of the stage.
So the music was amazing.
But the heat was unbearable. And Guzman was sick with Strep Throat. And we just heard from Geoff a little while ago. So yeah... leaving was a good idea. Now I'm all showered and cool and clean and nice feeling. Yet it's only noon in Tennessee. Right about now I'd be in line to fill up water bottles and wash myself off as best as is possible and then heading to see Be Your Own Pet. But it's ok.
My birthday was yesterday. I had 7 voicemails (Arpen? Sam Peach? Wow I love my friends. Totally didnt expect that) and one text message from Mr Mark. Then I had a few myspace comments and a dozen facebook ones. That's love. I still need a cake though. Maybe soonnnn.
