My son jumped off the rock
into the lake, receding.
Impact of the rising sun
Shimmer on the skin of waves

The night before was a dream
of my father, dead for the first time.
The wisps of terrible narrative
on the steam of my morning coffee.

Ok, I'm going to assume that you have not written this with an ironic sentiment (or, at least, not completely) and I'm going to try to persuade you to rethink what you've written.

Why do you think that pre-law is actually useful? I mean, to me, as someone who did (count them: TWO) useless degrees, I would have to say that the most important thing you get from an undergraduate education is the ability to think, reason, write eloquently, and learn how to build strong friendships and networks. I think the HC provides you with the ability to do all four, regardless of what you've chosen to study. Now, that being said, someone who has decided to pursue a degree in one of the hard sciences and continues on to a PhD will definitely go to school for free. You, on the other hand, may not. Them's the breaks. But I guarantee that in the long run your decision to study what you are passionate about will forever be something that those people wasting their time in a pre-law/pre-med program wished they'd done. Pre-law is not necessary for someone to be able to go onto a law school. In fact, they usually prefer that you don't do a pre-law degree. It's bland and uninteresting and it does not show them that you're capable of doing any critical thinking. Pre-med is the same (although anyone wishing to go to Med school should probably take at least a core of science classes so they have a decent background with which to enter med school).

Ok, go forth little HC'er. You'll do great. :)
