hi it's lillian from xanga! Glad you had a fun trip. There's no place like home. After I came back from The Silk Road tour I realized how thankful I am for toilets, running water, and so much more. Ewww the toilets in China aka W.C.'s *cringe*

Yes, you definitely appreciate the creature comforts of home after travelling... I haven't been on the Silk Road tour before. Would you recommend checking it out?

Definetely. 13 cities 2 weeks. You’ll see the most beautiful places like the Duanghong Oasis in the Gobi Desert, but also more rural areas like where the Weager people live. It’s a very eye opening, humbling experience to see behind the walls of “the rising dragon” and what the Chinese government usually portrays to America with The Great Wall of China, Terracata Soldiers, and Hong Kong. Oh hey the photos from my trip are at http://photobucket.com/albums/v460/eLillian/SilkRoadTour/ so you get a sneak preview of the tour. I left China realizing how lucky I am to be born in America with so much opportunity.

Hope you get as much out of the trip as I did.

I've been through some very rural parts of China before and it's far cry from the development in the Eastern coastal regions of China and Beijing. It's just crazy to think that 80% of the population lives in the rural areas and all the money the goverment invests in its cities is enjoyed by only 20% of the population. Something will have to change or there will be severe internal turmoil in the future. Oh yeah, your Photobucket.com account is protected... I can't view anything.

Thanks! Those are some beautiful pictures... some of the areas look so dry and desert-like. I wonder how the people live out there and make a living. We are truly lucky to live in a land of many opportunities... remember to vote this year!
