Un-American with a jab at health insurance

Just glancing over the Google News front page, I see a double case of hypocrisy. I don't know if the GOP are staging astroturf campaigns, but I do know that the cries of "un-American" from the Dems is... inappropriate at best. A couple years ago, the sides were somewhat switched. It was the GOP (or their unofficial spokesmen on talk shows) stating that dissent was "un-American." It was those not lined up with the GOP having trouble actually having their tiny voices heard.

It's obvious these "town hall meetings" are not designed to promote proper discourse.

Shifting the subject to health care, I don't think I should go into the reasons why I feel the way I do, but I feel that this is all a case of "the more things (threaten to) change, the more they stay the same." From health care itself to the rhetoric that surrounds it, nothing is changing. My patience is the only thing that's being reduced here.

I won't be able to get the same health care for less money (private insurers using my health to reward their shareholders, not qualifying for public insurance to fill the gaps). To pay less, I'll have to plan on dying in more circumstances. If my employer-provided health benefits, which have been in decline for years while costing me more, are taxed, I will be going for the plan with the lowest fair market value (assuming I am REQUIRED to buy insurance). This is sure to affect my heath coverage. I feel like I'm driving in quasi-reverse here.

I can't point to someone aligned with a particular political party (or even the party as a whole) and say, "YOUR damned fault." I can, however, put my finger on Capitol Hill and say this. They are all poisoned by moneyed special interest groups.

Health insurance is for chumps. No one who has adequate wealth is at the mercy of any insurer. No damned wonder they don't wish to pay for the rest of us.
