1. Screens seem to be getting wider, but not taller. Case in point: my old 2005FPW has a native resolution of 1680*1050. This new 23" screen is full HD resolution: 1920*1080. While I gain a nice amount of screen on the horizon, I gain a rather paltry 30 pixels on the vertical.
2. LJ and the omnipresent horizontal scrollbar on some pages. No matter HOW wide I make the browser window, LJ thinks there's just a sliver offscreen, so makes Firefox put a scrollbar in (eating up VERTICAL screen real estate). Quit it!
A not-annoyance: MacOS X detected the new display without hassle and put it at its native resolution straight away. And I get to replace the Toshiba tube TV with the Dell flat screen. (Or else play musical screens and put the Dell in the bedroom, bringing the Westinghouse TV out into the living room.) No more CRTs will be running after that.
