When automation goes wrong

Gawd...

I bought the Scion on June 3, yet I keep receiving email pertaining to potential car purchases. I guess that's what happens when I show interest via email.

But the thing that floored me was this latest pitch. It advertised "0% for 72 months on Chevys and Hummers" (remember, I bought my car from a dealership that really deals in Scion, Toyota, Chevy and Hummer even though they're two separate buildings). That was all fine, but then I looked to see who the email was "from."

It was "from" the same guy who sold me my car on June 3.

He can't be that totally STUPID, so I'm guessing there's some sort of wacky automaton at work here, sending me email in the names of these folks. The system sending the email appears to be some third party, so it makes sense. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. :o)

I was able to successfully remove myself from the third party's lists. Hopefully.

(what an apt choice of music!)

buggy software, advertisements run amok
